It's the length of time that's the problem.
Waiting a year to gain access to things you already paid for, especially things that are probably going to be outdated, it's crazy.
You can't just say it's the same thing because 'timed exclusives are timed exclusives'. Not in this situation at least.

A strike that, when they finally get access to it, will probably be outdated. If cod did the same model. Xbox got 5 maps, Ps got 4. Paid the same amount. Ps would get the fifth map a year later. Unfortunately there will be a new cod out and the map is practically outdated...is that fair? I understand that it's not that big of a deal as such, you know because it's only 'one strike' but it's still a bit of a shit way to do business.
