Let me preface this by saying I don't currently have a ton of time to play, but I do get on the forums a bit. I haven't completed the raid or been 'screwed over' by RNGesus. So it's fair to take my comments with a grain of salt (not implying anybody would do any differently, though).
Obviously, the loot system has a lot of people upset, and rightfully so. There have been mentions of systems similar to World of Warcraft, with raid gear tokens, trading, and all sorts of other options to make the loot system work for you.
Something from WoW I haven't seen suggested, though, is a rolling system for raid drops. If there is another thread suggesting this, disregard and carry on. I just haven't seen one.
Situation:
Players either get a bunch of stuff they already have and don't need, or players don't get anything of value when downing the raid boss. This causes a serious problem with motivating players to actually do the raid.
Solution:
Allow players to roll (more RNG, but with bias) for gear they want. If someone wants something from the loot drop, they can increase their chances of getting it. If someone already has an item in the drop, they can choose not to roll and increase the chances of someone else getting it.
Implementation:
Create a single loot drop pool from the boss instead of individual RNG drops for each player. This pool would include gear/shaders/vehicles, but no materials. Individual RNG could still award materials per player. Players roll need, greed, or pass on gear with a 1-100 RNG with need before greed priority.
That's it, vote and let me know what you think in the comments.

I like this idea but it also has its problems
