As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

Lmao you don't like it when the tides are turned! Remember Xbox started this exclusive dlc crap. Get over it
-
They should of just gave the sony community this second strike separately but by bundling it with the dlc just shows us xbox one fans that bought the season pass that we are getting shafted. We are paying the same price yet cant play a part of the dlc till a year later..... I just dont think thats right in my mind....
-
Why would bungie try to hurt half of its customers giving ps owners a lot more to do in game that Xbox owners will never get (technically a year but how many people will be playing destiny in a year new games will be out) Ps users get a lot of bonus content without paying anymore than Xbox users If Bungie wants to anger its Xbox community let them go ahead its there paycheck

PS exclusivity was announced before the game launched. http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/27/6075521/destiny-playstation-4-ps3-exclusives This is nothing new. It is specifically why I purchased the game on PS4 instead of XB1.

I'm not going to say that one console is better than the other. They are both great in their own respects. But as an Xbox One user, when it comes down to Destiny I am starting to feel like the redheaded step child. We are here and Bungie gives us food and water but Playstation is getting all the love. Throw a little something our way once in a while bungie.

And what about Halo? A group of ENTIRE GAMES that Playstation never got to play. It's business you butthurt twat, it's for money. Not for equality, or to make people like you happy. It's all done in the name of money. You saying this stuff isn't going to do anything about it, so just go back to your lovely, chunky XB1, and enjoy your early CoD DLC, your Halo MCC, your Forza, whatever. Exclusive stuff happens, get used to it kid.
-
This is the business people, get used to it. Sony will do this with certain publishers and so will Microsoft, there is nothing we can do about it. Don't blame Bungie, I'm sure they wouldn't mind releasing everything on both systems, it's Activision/Sony that makes this deal.
-
*Sigh* Look, I'm not a fan of this business practice anymore then anyone else, but the reality is, you bought an Xbox knowing that PS4 would get exclusive content, they announced this way before Xbox One and PS4 even released. Both Xbox One and Playstation 4 have there own games with there own exclusive content, Xbox One gets Call of Duty timed exclusive content (that everyone knows about) and Playstation 4 gets Destiny timed exclusive content (that everyone knows about). It's not like you bought an Xbox One before the exclusive deal, everything was set in stone pre-launch. I know it sucks, but you'll get it eventually, just like Playstation owners will get the Call of Duty stuff eventually, and as a Playstation owner, i can tell it it was very frustrating knowing that Xbox owners got the Call of Duty Zombie Maps before PS3 owners.
-
Be glad you could even play the game. You don't see intelligent people complaining that the PS4 doesn't have things like Titanfall or Sunset Overdrive. You just see those companies complaining because their game isn't even selling half of what it could on the PS4.
-
Microsoft have been doing this for years on games such as Fifa, CoD and Battlefield, how is this any different?
-
Or you could buy the better console and stop whining. Also we get kingdom hearts so have fu with tomb raider
-
You will get that extra strike in a year and then that will be the end of the exclusive content. It could have been the entire expansion pack.
-
You received what you paid for. We received what we paid for as well as what Sony bought for us.
-
Cry more.
-
Your tears are delicious.
-
Just a strike ? Not a raid ?
So
Exclusives need to stop on both sides. The only exception would be Company owned developers like 343i and Naughty Dog. Xbox has had COD, sometimes Battlefield, Tomb Raider and that Evolve game. None of which are owned by Microsoft or Sony. In no way am I trying to promote Sony but no one got upset until Destiny became somewhat exclusive.

"I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too." Amen.
-
Finally you xbox users understands how it feels when a dev chooses a side not in favor of your console. Now buuuuuurn MWHAHAHAHA
-
you knew this a year ago when the game was announced, and for the next year it's the same, as it was announced, just like a year ago you had the option to get an Xbox 1 or PS4, you chose XB1, well you get what you paid for, complaining about it now it's senseless. enjoy what part of the game you have or trade it in, either way they where always honest about their intentions to give exclusives to PS for the next year, unlike other who come clean a month before a release.
-
Please edit your post and make sure it says "Timed exclusive" Passing on wrong information or saying that it won't come to the Xbox isn't helping anyone. It's only fueling the fires. Thank you.

Edited by layzerboy: 10/29/2014 6:57:33 PMAs someone else commented earlier, this exclusive content was announced at E3. If you payed attention you would have seen and thought "Hm, maybe I don't want this game because of this". Don't say bungie is -blam!-ing you over. You knew this was going to happen yet you got the game on an xbox anyways. Sorry not sorry. About damn time playstation got ahead of xbox in exclusives anyways. But at the same time I do think its silly we have all these console and dev wars going on.
-
We know this since before the launch, I don't know what's the surprise...
-
Please keep in mind that these are not true exclusives. Xbox will get access to these features. I'm not defending it, just making sure all of the facts are on the table. I agree that exclusives can be toxic. I'm honestly hoping that the uproar will change this for future destiny titles, but, unfortunately, nothing can be done about the 2 expansions already announced.
-
The console wars are benefiting no-one in the long run. It's annoying, infuriating, and borderline illegal, that a company can actually pay another company to reduce the content a competitor gets, call this content a 'bonus' for having the 'right system'. You'd think Pepsi would get in trouble if they paid ShopRight not to carry Diet Coke, specifically, then claiming Diet Pepsi is exclusive content from the supermarket. Yet Sony and Microsoft can continuously screw each other over, even tough it hurts the industry and the consumer more than anything else. Exclusive games are one thing, but this content BS doesn't generate new customers, it drives those that don't like you deeper into the opposite camp.
