WTF Exclusive DLC now?
As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

2 RepliesI can solve everyones issue's when it comes to the exclusive content, lack of content, lack of story and any of the other issues that is complained about on a daily basis. Its a simple Six step solution. Step One: Pack your game into its container Step Two: Go to Game Stop or another gaming store/department Step Three: Trade game in for money/gift card/store credit Step Four: Purchase new game Step Five: Go home Step Six: Play new game If this is done then all the anger, jealousy or what ever the issue is will end. pretty simple.

6 RepliesThere is no reason for you to complain about this, because it was know that ps4 would have exclusive content months before these consoles were even released. If this were really that big of a deal to you, then you would have bought a ps4 instead.

When I heard Playstation was getting an exclusive strike in the DLC, I was pissed. Now that I've had a few hours to let it settle in, I'm just disappointed. I knew about the exclusives Playstation was getting in the main release of the game but I don't remember seeing any fine print on the season pass that was included with my Ghost edition. I don't understand why they would choose a strike, of all things, to make exclusive. Give them weapons, armor, sparrows, whatever...but core content like a strike? I play PvE primarily and running strike playlists are one of my favorite activities, so I was really looking forward to getting a few more strikes in there for variety's sake. One last thing about the exclusive strike. This not only sucks for Xbox users but Playstation users as well, because if past behavior is any indication to how they treat the weekly heroic strike, there is no chance of seeing that exclusive strike in the rotation, just like the Dust Palace. I'm going to keep playing, as I love the game and I will no doubt enjoy the content that comes in the new DLC, but it's hard not to feel a little jaded about the way they handled this.

I don't understand why people keep bringing up CoD like timed exclusives. If this WHOLE DLC pack was timed this wouldn't be a problem as xbox has done it with games like CoD. The problem is it launches at the same time and for the same price. I gotta pay the same price for the DLC yet wait almost a full year before I can actually play it? THAT is the problem. If I had to wait 3 months like PS does with CoD maps I would be fine. I hate the fact I have to play 90% of a DLC I paid 100% of for a year before I get what I paid for.

My issue is that it's a year of exclusivity. I mean a month or two is fine, but a year, -blam!- man. Just gonna have to deal. On the bright side it'll be a reason to pop in destiny a year from now. Bleh.

I have ps4 so I will get the content, but I still think the fact that they cut out content for one console or the other is so stupid and frustrating. Like you said, both charge full price but only one receives full content.

Take a look at the list of stuff Xbox gets before PlayStation.... I'll give ya a few minutes. Back? Ok now go look at how much PlayStation gets. You see the difference there? This is one bloody game and PlayStation needs something over Xbox. I do agree that retailer exclusives need to go, because that's just not cool.

1 ReplyI'm an Xbone owner, and I'm not mad that PS owners get exclusive content, as both Sony and Microsoft get great exclusive deals. However, I am mad that we are paying the same as PS owners yet getting less content. If this exclusive content with The Dark Below was a free update this would be fairer for both parties imo, rather than paying for it.

However what all the Xbox users are saying is that DLC exclusives have really never been a thing, there has been early release DLC for certain platforms but all DLC content comes out to every console. And your argument about Halo is just stupid. That is a 10 year old excuse if you ask me. If I am paying the same amount of money to get content at the same time I want all the content that comes with it. Now if that new strike was a separate thing that PS users could buy then I would be all for it. But I am paying the same for less, the economics do not add up here for Xbox users to buy this DLC at the full price they are asking for. They also do not say that Xbox users will get the strike later at all. I am fine with PS having Dust Palace as a launch exclusive, thats was bought buy them and all theirs. Now that it is DLC that everyone gets, why doesn't everyone get the same content? This is the Xbox users complaint, or at least should be.

It's not helping to complain about this at all. Sony paid Bungie a certain amount for it. Get over it. You don't deserve anything as compensation, you'll get it eventually. Lots of games do this as well as series that are exclusive. It's to get you to buy both

I don't understand how people can compare this to exclusive games... simply put this is about content that would be important for the successful lifespan of the game being sacrificed on one platform. 2 games that are the same price and are different experiences and same goes for the dlc. I am not arguing which system is better or trying to throw anything in anyone's face, like how most of the comments have been. I explained why this is not good for anyone and I offered some suggestions (which may not be good ones) at how to make it better so that I can continue enjoying this game. It is still a great game despite reviews, but its a real shame that the xbox players do not get the same experience as ps players. A year is a really long time to keep a game's interest level. Does anyone still play AC4 or even BF4 now? Both are good games but after a year there is so much more interesting games to occupy my time. Also for all the sony people that say something along the lines of "this is for that".... activision owns many games and who is to say this practice won't catch on like how micro-transactions have.

They should have been up front about this before offering the dlc's with the Limited Edition. I purchased the Limited Edition specifically for the dlc's. I wouldn't have bought it if they would have specified that I won't be getting all the content their making for the upcoming dlc's... because I own an XBOX One. Disappointing move Bungie, please make it right for those of us who support your hard work and efforts. Give us the content we paid for or give us a partial refund for providing us with partial dlc's.
