As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

Why you mad You xbox user have this bullshit with Xbox 360 all over the god damn place
-
Xbox gets exclusive content all the time. Especially cod, why is it now an issue that is on playstation?
-
Whoever trying to justify exclusives for multiplatforms games is either a moron or fanboy. Seriously some of you are retarded. This shit hurts everybody. Some of you need to grow up and stop being fan boys. Sad that some of you are grown men too. People are so damn incompetent these days.

Edited by Psybernetik: 10/29/2014 8:39:05 PMPS4 FTW? Face it, Xbox is no longer top dog of consoles. You should be thanking Sony IMO. If it wasn't for their competition you would have to always be internet connected, always be spied upon by your Kinect (which was also costing you 10% performance), you couldn't share games, and you would be dealing with a system more designed to provide streaming video than gaming. Sony says you are welcome. Besides......once you finish your percentage of the content you can go play Titanfall....
-
ya its not like xbox has always gotten extra exclusives on previous gen
-
Playstation didn't lost on Tomb raider, it's timed exclusive.
-
Exactly why I didn't purchase the season pass. Bungie, lower the price for Xbox to account for the less content or make it worth my while to play. Otherwise, I'll move on to the litany of games coming out this fall like Halo MCC, Smash, and DAI. That simple, make it worth our while. Playstation may have paid for exclusivity, but they didn't pay you to charge us the same amount for less. That's just an insult to your own customers. Let them have their extra strike. I'm not paying for something I won't get though.

bungie doesnt know what theyre doing man, we knew this since the first "hotfix"

Edited by Mindshard: 10/29/2014 7:45:42 PMCommon business practice was to have console exclusive titles. The PS3 generation was great for people who bought that console. Those Sony exclusive weapons? Hawkmoon is good, but The Last Word is arguably better. Monte Carlo is a joke compared to SUROS Regime. There's a reason so few people use it, mine's never left my vault. Hell, Hard Light is essentially a better version of Monte Carlo and you're more likely to get HL since Xur can sell it. The Dust Palace? Have you ever heard people talk favorably about it? The final fight isn't fun, and requires above average group communication and teamwork or else the flayers just keep regenerating shields. On top of that the weapons aren't "free", they have the same chance to drop as any other exotic, and aren't better than anything you can get on another platform.
-
For those that want this to be some stupid console war I'm sorry for you. Timed exclusives suck for everyone. It is stupid when playstation people need to wait for xbox COD timed exclusive and it stupid when xbox people need to wait playstion timed exclusive. We both already have your game. Allowing this to happen is a dick move to both communities.

Ho don't worry guys! you have Sunset Overdrive!

didn't realize 1 strike was worth all the commotion

Edited by Mikeyy: 10/29/2014 8:36:18 PMBungie says they're sorry in their deepest apology addressed to the OP - Bungie - We're very sorry for any inconvenience we have caused our players. We're also sorry that we make business decisions to better help our company stay out of bankruptcy after being tossed away like trash by Microsoft. We had to make a deal with Sony... Plus, we like them better. Again, we're very sorry. We just thought we had to address this to you, oh great OP who knows everything! Fight on Guardians!

And rewarding....if their second game doesnt do just that then i am out, wow had dugeons that are similar to a strike but funner. And they had way more, like 20 or so i need them to make strikes more interesting and less linear. Either way the raids are the only fun thing in the game is the raid and its a bitch to get it going.

It's beyond me how PS users are comparing waiting a year for DLC content as opposed to waiting a month, or paying full price up front but only get pieces of the content. It's stupid for COD to do that for xbox but Bungie took it to a whole new level of retardation.
-
Don't worry. I'm a ps4 owner and I won't get any content you won't. $20 is to much for not enough dlc. I especially think Xbox owners would be crazy to buy it. The only way to show bungie we don't like being screwed is to not buy their stuff until they make it worth the money. Unfortunately there are so many non refundable dlc pre ordered out there I don't think the message will get across
-
Edited by Cain Zendew: 10/29/2014 8:26:28 PMMost likely I won't be playing this game a year from now, so holding content back from other platforms for a full year is just asinine and a poor move on Bungie's part from a business perceptive: There already isn't enough in this game to keep me interested in the first place. It's like they want this game to fail.
-
Im an xbox player and im saying let them have it, its not actually exclusive, we get it eventually. Personally i hate exclusive content in games, i think it should stay to just exclusive games, But anyway, my standing on this is stop bitching about early content, we get it later, be happy, they didn't get halo a year later, and thier not getting sunset overdrive a year later, it was also vaguely mentioned early that they would get exclusive dlc content, if your unhappy get a playstation
-
We have halo. Going to quit destiny when MMC and Halo 5 comes out.
-
Im not sure on this but I think it was announced before D came out that there was more content for PS4. Although I doubt I will be buying it, only waiting for AC;Unity, The crew etc to come out Destiny content ran dry for me ages ago. Only DLC I would buy would be a pure crucible DLC. Behind the PS4 shroud is probably someone getting a back hand and afterall they are only making games for money, the days where games were made for customer enjoyment long gone out of the window, it seems most of the new games coming out are huge money sinks ontop of an already extortionate price. I remember when games new were £20 with everything included, now they are £60 for half and 150 for the rest.
Did you read the patch notes for the FF XIV update yesterday? Puts Destiny's "expansion" to shame. New class, with a complete storyline for it New raids. With an S. New Primal fight. New Hard Mode dungeons(with a new storyline and bosses for each) New crafting recipes. New main story questlines. Multiple new side questlines. And this is just a free patch. Not paid DLC or Expansion.

Did you read the patch notes for the FF XIV update yesterday? Puts Destiny's "expansion" to shame. New class, with a complete storyline for it New raids. This was touching, it really was. A few tips though: Next time, post a video describing the extreme plight of the Xbox users. I suggest standing in front of dilapidated houses with some emaciated African children looking sorrowfully into the camera. Also, have Sarah McLachlan music playing in the background. Maybe even get Sally Struthers to deliver your message. All of this will help tug at the heartstrings of the viewer.

DLC shouldn't be bought until Game is fixed

You guys have cod..so go play cod (:

Edited by Toothaiker: 10/29/2014 8:37:17 PMI'm done with Destiny. I already felt hosed by what they did with the story and gameplay to rush this thing out the door, but now they are, again, withholding parts of the game for the Xbox and STILL charging the same? I'm loyal to developers I like. I have purchased every Dice game they made since Battlefield 1941, even if I didn't EVER play the game. I've done the same with Bioware, Blizzard, iD, Epic, Chris Roberts, and Telltale Games. I even did this for you Bungie. I bought collector's editions of your Halo games, one of which I never even had the time to play, out of pure respect and the desire to support you. I feel like I've been told to F'off twice now by you, so goodbye. I think I'm going to go order they most expensive edition of Halo Master Chief edition just to spite you. One more thing...after you left Microsoft I did NOT purchase Halo 4 as I thought it wrong to make a Halo game without your name on it. Boy has my opinion changed.

I can solve everyones issue's when it comes to the exclusive content, lack of content, lack of story and any of the other issues that is complained about on a daily basis. Its a simple Six step solution. Step One: Pack your game into its container Step Two: Go to Game Stop or another gaming store/department Step Three: Trade game in for money/gift card/store credit Step Four: Purchase new game Step Five: Go home Step Six: Play new game If this is done then all the anger, jealousy or what ever the issue is will end. pretty simple.
