As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

You know Xbox has been doing this with a lot if games they pay the game developers to get exclusive content. But PS does not have exclusive thing on a lot if games that Xbox does but it is the other way around now. But PlayStation pay a lot more money to get the exclusives. It sucks but we can't change that.

Sorry for the correction but this was announced months ago, as far back as i remember talking about this game ..

I didn't read all of your post cause I don't have much time, but I do agree that this is no Call Of Duty... this is an MMORPG, even if i own a Ps4 I still feel that this is not a game to favour one system and make it just better over all with Nichtfalls and guns being sold by Xur, it holds everyone back... I honestly don't even play that ps4 strike unless I play Tiger Strike Playlist and I use y'all's back out cause it's kinda horrible...

Yes but what about Halo. What if PS2/PS3 owners wanted to play Halo but didn't want to buy the XBOX. It's pretty much the same thing with the exception of destiny is available on all consoles and Playstaion only has the exclusivity for a year maybe 2 then XBOX owners will get everything. You can't just look at it one way! You have to see multiple points to all this and you have to post something like this to Microsoft or 343 studios (which is owned by Microsoft) about business practices on exclusivity.

Did you miss the 2013 press release about Sony having exclusive content for launch and for expansion packs? Apparently not. This is not new. Stop living under a rock.
-
Im done with destiny with all this bull shit already ... im selling my game amd account sinse I got the season pass... bungie -blam!-ed up hard and they arent getting one.more dime from me with this or any other future game
-
Let the Playstation players have all they want in destiny. It kinds turns me on to have the enemy faction (playstation) getting exclusive shit. Exactly that. Exclusive shit. Hahahah The game's dead man. Relax. Play Master Chief Collection, or Shadow of Mordor. Remember we (xbox players) got HALO for 14 years and counting. Woot woot :)
-
You realize Bungie's hands are tied as far as exclusivity is concerned right? This is contractual, there's no "well we'll give Xbox some free shit since PS gets exclusives"
-
Xbox can now feel Playstations pain for years have we suffered, now you know the pain ...... The pain ..... Pain
-
My main problem here is that the mentioning of exclusive dlc content is mentioned on a PlayStation forum (based on links I have seen provided in other comments), where most Xbox players most likely would have little reason to venture to. So this is pretty new information for most Xbox users. Also the length of time seems a bit ridiculous, the game will probably still be going fine in one year, but the content itself will probably be out of date. Any attached game lore to the strike means xbox users miss out on more story than before. Lastly if they just lowered the price for Xbox since its not the same content most would be fine with that, then just make xbox users pay for the additional stuff next year.

Who let Meg back inside the house..???
-
well it does say the content will only be exclusive till fall 2015. so in 2015 you guys will get all of what we had plus the new stuff that comes out then.
-
Shut up Meg.

I agree with a lot of people. I don't care if PS get exclusive contents over Xbox One, but one year is too much wait for us. If it was the opposite, I would not agree too. It's not fair. PS: I'm not hating PS it's just a choice. If I had a 1000$ budget for gaming, I would've bought the two consoles.

It's not an issue its business. I never cried knowing that Xbox was getting all the bo2 dlc's first because I knew my friends would have it when I did. And seriously you are missing out on one strike it isn't like it's the entire dlc, and i thought nobody really liked strikes I can tell you dust palace is nothing to write home about.

Eat a snickers

dude, PS user here. I'm not buying the DLC. that's the only way to NOT buy into crap that Bungie is shoving down our throats
-
To everybody talking about halo: Exclusive content and exclusive titles are not the same Take COD for example: Xbox had exclusive maps which timed out after a MONTH not a year. Xbox users: quit complaining so damn much, what's done is done. PS users: get off your -blam!-ing high horse.
Xbox one user here, and no I don't give a rats -blam!-in ass what you think.
PlayStation gamers still suck
-
The MCC will kick this game in the jewels...
-
Caall of duty, assassin's creed, borderlands, payday 2 [insert game here] All had exclusive dlc
-
tl;dr, but they were pretty open about exclusive content in DLC. Plus side is, xbox owners will get a huge content dump next fall.
-
Yeah well welcome to the world of Playstation where we had to wait months for dlc back on PS3.
-
Had I know that the DLC was going to have exclusives, I would have put off purchasing it. It's not a lot of stuff, and I bet if I waited a few months, I could have gotten it for less.
-
As an Xbox player I'm 100% fine with the Playstation getting content first I mean come on we have been getting our content on COD first for years now so this is a little pay back for that. But I feel we shouldn't have to wait a whole year for the extra content that's just rediculous. They should release the old extra content for us when new DLC drops so we would have to wait approximately three months or so between the time Playstation has the content before we would have it. As it is now we only have our DLC for COD for one month before Playstation gets it. So I just feel three months is way more than fair enough for DLC first on Playstation.
