I believe he is referring to the mandatory online check ins and no trade in policy that Microsoft announced prior to console launch.

Then people flipped out and they rescinded those ideas. But the damage was already done. Friends of mine who were total shitbox 360 fan boys jumped ship immediately.

If you wanted to know more about the dickheadedness of Microsoft I short Google search for "Xbox one online check in". It's a pretty good read. Entertaining in the sense that they actually thought they could get away with it and even more entertaining if you can find a comment section about it.
