What exactly is a 15 year beta tester, and how exactly does that mean anything special?
English

He's been beta testing Destiny for 15 years
-
It means that he starting playing videos games as soon as he emerged from the womb. He opened his eyes to see space invaders dropping down toward him. A controller fell from the sky into his hands and he has been fighting space monsters ever since. He's now 15 years old, with a pale complexion and square eyes. He has no formal education. He is a self taught, but brilliant young man who has known nothing but video games. If that isn't special, then I don't know what is? ;-) (Disclaimer: this is only a joke)

Edited by Lord Yesua: 10/29/2014 12:34:19 AMNo. Seriously, I think beta testers just play video games for developers so that they can get a feel for what the general public response will be and make improvements before launch.

But..games have regularly been made available to the general public..for free...in their beta stage. It just doesn't seem very special to me, I guess. Gimme some pre-alpha/milestone testing, plz.

I think some beta tester peeps are actually employed and have to give formal feedback ... Maybe he is one of those ... or maybe he is just crazy. Who knows! I'd love to see the first testings and the process of game development.

I was a game tester myself for a year at EA games. Got to work on ME2, Madden 10, and NCAAF 10, among some others. Just giving this as a point of reference. So I am sorta familiar with that side of things. Never heard of people brought in and being paid to test a game once it hit its Beta stage. Typically at that point. Typically betas are open/closed, but to the general public. There are far too many people that will gladly do that stuff for free.
