I honestly prefer female protagonists in stories. They are more interesting, less predictable and haven't quite been done to death. Case in point: FemShep, Samus, and Ripley. Thats not to say that I hate male leads. Master Chief, Superman, the Terminator and more are still badasses in my eyes and it wouldn't be right to portray those characters as females (lookin at YOU, T-X). Just given a choice I'd rather have a strong female main character then male. Just my opinion.
