Destiny came and all of a sudden everyones "Pro". (A note on playerbase and the VoG)
Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
[b]What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.[/b]

Yes, a hunter can't help in the glitch. BUT... They are patching it. Bumpers... no more pushes. AND... lets see anyone 2 man the vault without golden gun? Yeah, right... Hunters have uses... and in the next raid, it'll be the warlocks likely left out in the cold on some new glitch. Safer to just play with people you know, and avoid random/kids altogether.

5 RepliesI finally beat the raid last night. I'm a lvl 29 Hunter (was 28 when I did the raid last night) and I don't feel like I was worthless at all. I was on Oracle duty on the left side for the Templar, and I opened the gates and killed Supplicants for Atheon. Why do people always say that Hunters are worthless? After reading a little bit on this forum, the only thing I can think of is it's because we can't lob thousands of grenades and glitch the bosses. Am I correct? And if I am, then that's silly.

Why Well you'll thank titan slam when the supplicants are not killing you coming out of the gate, allowing the team to fire on you know the boss. Hunters have golden gun... I mean at that point its GGman GG... LOL

If ur on ps4 ill do the raids with u legit. I have all 3 toons raid ready. Have only done it on hard once And it took forever cuz all of us were level 27 or under(my lock can be 29)

The other day i was doing atheon for the fun of it and just helping players out even though i had done everything for the week and i got into a group and one kid was just like '' omg dude can you just push him off!1!1!! stop messing up! you suck!''...seriously? kid.

1 ReplyThere is not better class, is all about skills, in VoG is all about coordination and be smart and with that i mean not to play "Rambo Style" trying to kill 100 mobs yourself or underestimating your team. Offcourse if we talk of chessing .. yeah any over time damage granade can push off those 2 bosses. but just that. Btw.. being level 30 doesnt mean anything just that RNGesus felt pitty for you on some runs xD, it doesn mean they are awesome all mighty players.. and i am a lvl 30 and still do some epic fails u,u. offtopic question: Is consider kissing/cheating if 4 of your team members stay of the respawn platform sniping while 2 clean and break the templar shield? *templar fight*

The RNG loot-system requires relatively no skill to get great rewards. All that is required is the level to participate and you've basically got it. I ran a Nightfall last night with one other individual who was just a "tag-along" and at the end I was rewarded with 5 strange coins and he got Hardlight. I'm not complaining, because I know I will eventually get everything but it is, however, a slight annoyance.

1 ReplyMy hunter held the portals open alone, while I waited to revive my two dead warlock teammates. Twice. Hand cannons and arc grenades are great on exploding harpies. Not too bad for a useless character.

Thumbs up for legit. and yea a few people think hunters are useless just because we can't glitch atheon off the edge. or the templar. and honestly if you know what to do, doing the raid the correct way is not hard, in some cases even goes faster then glitching him off. ive now witnessed atheon first hand die in 1 time vengence, and the templar in 4 shield breaks. which took about 3 minutes to do, and atheon was about 2 minutes. after bungie patches these two bugs it will be a new raid. we will see all these atheon pushers fail to complete the raid because all they learned to do is run up a stairs and dance then throw a few grenades.

Instead of Bungie gutting everything this time it's actually the players short changing themselves. But, can you blame em? Their brains aren't fully developed and they probably don't understand the value of a dollar.

BTW, you should take all of your ill-gotten gains and destroy them since you didn't get the gear/loot legitimately.

I never do that, I always have my group of friends and we always pass it the way it was meant to be, we don't cheat our way to victory, we earn it. I am also someone who helps groups pass it. Whether if it's for the first time or just need an extra person, I am there if I can. I help and follow their strategies and let them figure it out, but when they get stuck, that's when I offer to implement the strategies I use to beat it. And any class can be helpful in the raid, just gotta find the right strategy that can utilize each of your abilities more effectively. And that takes trial and error. Wish you were on the ps3 so I could help, but what can you do. Hope you find your unique way of beating it and I encourage you to stay away from cheating :]

Sounds like your team devised a strategic plan to get through it. You always could of left your group. When my group does the raid we don't phaff around, it's a run and done.

This is the game Bungie produced. If people can knock a boss off and get bonus loot from a bonus chest then they will. It's like playing a racing game that has a turbo glitch that never runs out of turbo. Do you blame the player for taking advantage and not self policing or the game developers?

25 RepliesEdited by Ascent: 10/26/2014 10:39:11 PMThe hunter is the most useless on hard mode as he really has nothing to offer as team support and his killing abilities are only just as good as he other classes. Playing the raid on all three classes I can say Warlocks are by far the best because of the self revive which is really OP. On hard there is no revives so hunters can't stealth revive anyone and even on normal you really don't need stealth to revive people. Golden Gun on hard can't kill oracles in one shot and the reason people cheese it is because it gets boring once it is your sixth time running the raid that week. Yes the raid is fun to do the first or second time properly, but once it is your third or fourth time doing the raid it is really boring so you just do it the fastest way possible. I really feel like the classes were balanced fairly well for PVP (besides titan, the titan in general needs a buff, his melee needs far more range) but on PVE the classes are in no way near balanced and the Warlock is by far the best. Considering that the Hunter is my main account and my favorite class, I really do have a solid opinion on why the Warlock is the best class in PVE with just about everything being better for it.

of all the times i've done this raid, you seem to have gotten the unlucky bunch of shitlords that think they're better, don't think all lvl 30's are like this btw, there's just a select few with a big mouth and bigger e-peen that have to justify their worthless lives with virtual items. I've cheesed Atheon more than i've beaten him legit, I've only beaten the Templar legit like 2 times, but.. is it that hard for some people? Like, seriously, its simple, especially if you're at least 27, then you can just dominate most mobs. Anyways, i suggest finding some friends with Destiny LFG, if they're cool, friend them, and get together a designated group for the raid each week, thats what i did, and now the raid is not only a cakewalk, but it's alot more fun too!

Yep watch a few you tube vids and they are experts that just repeat what they hear. Not even 2 months and I am just starting to see the fine points of sub class set ups for diff areas and play style.
