Destiny came and all of a sudden everyones "Pro". (A note on playerbase and the VoG)
Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
[b]What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.[/b]

I enjoy talking legendaries and exotics. It's a good way to figure out what's the best way to play. Listen to other people's opinions or their "best ways to play". it's part bragging but it isn't just that its also informational. Hunters are not useless you can do alot with invis. invis saves your life and team mates it can also be used to block teleports. gold gun is a good way to ease pressure by taking out minotaurs and Pretorians and other tanky enemies. The atheon/Templar bug should have been patched two weeks ago.

This is why most of the level 30s are terrible. I can wait till they patch everything and ruin their party.

I personally enjoyed the way the fights were designed. Requires good teamwork, coordination, and understanding of roles to get through. But after a few weeks of that on multiple chatacters I welcomed a change. Pushing atheon provided a different challenge that was more entertaining than killing him the same way as the previous 9 times. Not to mention getting revenge for the times I fell off that map too lol.

A couple people weren't talking much, but they were all good at FPS games, stuck together and learned the mechanics really quickly... We did it in like 45 minutes to an hour, no cheesing required. The raid isn't actually that hard. At all. I started it this morning with a bunch of randoms, and it took forever and half the people left by the Gatekeeper part. Nobody listened, nobody took the initiative for anything.... I tried explaining the maze about 100x but people still kept running around gliding and being seen. Moral of the story: Run the raid with good players who are willing to listen and it's a walk in the park. Run it with a team of Rambos and it's really frustrating.

4 RepliesEdited by Styx: 10/27/2014 5:04:11 AMBeing in a group of randoms can suck, most of the time (for me at least) they are fking assholes, rude, immature, racist (i was actually was kicked from a guys group on purpose right before a boss was killed cause they didnt want a white guy (assumed from my voice) getting anything, it was just wrong) , there is no team work usually everyone argues, hell not just in raids, groups you find anywhere will be horrible unless they are your friends or you get lucky with a. Good group of ppl. In all its rough. No one likes to play well with anyone or even do something legit in a video game without a huge bitch fit now thats sad.

Hunters aren't useless especially on the normal raid since their invisibility is a huge plus to go and revive someone. But there is definitely a plus to being a warlock or a titan because of the ability to revive yourself or use the bubble shield. That said though, a good hunter is always welcome to my fireteam.

I just ran a raid on normal with some people and we cleared it easy. Especially Atheon. I killed all hobgoblins on Mars and weakened the Minotaur on Venus, just by using my super each time we were teleported. Then proceeded to destroy 80% of the oracles in the process. We're not useless. Knowing how to use a Hinter effectively during the raid helps more than a Titan or Warlock would. Edit: I use Golden Gun. Not arc blade.

11 RepliesDon't worry the next patch will force everyone to raid legit and then we will see who has real skill. As far as class goes on hard I don't care what class you are as long as your weapons are upgraded and you can stay alive.

Hunter grenades work the same. Depending on which one you do. I've done it on normal and we glitches them both but I want to do them correctly

We die way to quick and we have no team buffs like the titan and sun singer warlock do. Hunters aren't great at PvE. It's the truth. I do love my hunter but we're just not strong at PvE. I will say this..we hunters are boss at the oracles.

I have only ever been able to kill Templar without teleporting with 2 hunters and there invisibility people who think you are useless can suck it allso good for gorgans lair and the jumping part of the raid

1 ReplyYeah seriously, I really wanted to do Atheon legit, but the people I was with were hell bent on pushing him off, and using me, the only warlock, to do it. Now, since I don't have a lot of time, I don't feel like I can do the raid again, and that sucks.

Lemme just say that, for 1 I'm all about pushing or exploiting an issue to finish it as quick as possible when I know people will bail out. But 2 Hunters are perhaps THE MOST USEFUL against oracles and in the Gorgons maze ( I play mostly warlock and titan) but your golden gun wrecks oracles and the invisibility helps when I have to run inexperienced players through the maze. I'm sorry that douchebags ruined the raid for you. If you are on XBONE add me. Gt: Prof Arbor. Lvl 28 warlock Lvl 27 titan I thoroughly enjoy the raid, and will play even if I've already done it, because it's fun! (With the right people)

I did the raid on hard mode legit multiple times before stumbling upon a group of 5 who later on said that they are only there to cheese atheon. These pricks booted me as soon as they get my checkpoint because I said that I want to do it legit.

I feel you man. I've done the raid on normal without using any glitches or push-off-the-edges 5 times with a good group (2 titans, 3 hunters(!) and a warlock), and when were down a man or two and wanna try hard, everyone just wants to hide and snipe or use nades to push bosses, which I think is lame. Why can't we just do what we do on normal but focus more? I long for that mentality to be the norm.
