Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.
For this asking I'm on xbone

Feel free to check out my clan Enigma Sphere and consider joining!

I completely agree with you dude. Thats why i joined a clan so i dont have to deal with the idiots. But on the other hand its going to be funny to watch them fail miserably in the raid after the patch.
-
I don't dare join a group of randoms because I have had such bad luck with strikes and people thinking they are gods because they have more time to play than I do.
-
I did the raid with some "pro"s - they pushed both bosses off. I got some good gear but it was dull as fk. When i did it legit it was much more fun.
-
It's not a glitch to push him off, It's creative game play. And truthfully, what special ability do hunters have that benefits the hard raid mode? Don't get mad at other players for being able to accomplish more then you have. And get off your high horse with this "beat him legit" talk, the only reason people push is to save time.
-
Only around 160-200 times has the vault actually been beaten legit
-
There is no love for a Hunter especially on Hard mode. Every group i had on hard was all warlock with 1 titan and me a hunter. Sometimes only all warlocks. That is not the only thing player abused. Not sure if you know this, But the Sunsingers can glitch their supers in order to have infinity self revives.
-
It's funny because only hunter players know what to do inside the portals XD. Titans and Warlocks are going to be so boned once the patch drops.

Edited by ragincajunnugz: 10/27/2014 1:50:57 PMOmg, I'm glad you added the Xone part to the bottom. For a second there I thought you were in the raid with me last night. lmfao! I mean, I shit you not, that is how the raid went to the freakin' T, man. That's crazy funny.
-
wait till the patch and all the glitches / pushing it away all dissapears, and you might find a little fun in the tiny modicum of content this game has. Otherwise.. find other things, for a game on such a grandoise scale as Destiny there's suprisingly little to do, and looking back upon it, almost all of it is 'kill this bullet sponge boss' or 'defend this point for your ghost while enemies assault your position'. pvp's ok insofar as it's not cod die instantly pvp, but Titanfall was as fun at first, too, and lok where that went, plus with MCC edition looming, there's so much more to do in the old halos, forge, griff ball, mongoose rocket races!
-
I think the Templar is harder than atheon. Atheon isn't really that difficult when you have everyone stick to their jobs.
-
Thank you finally someone else has a desire to play the game legit what's the point of cheating to get gear just to play the game that you just cheated through BTW there are legit ways to do things like prevent atheon from teleporting to get the 4th chest you just have to have people stand on the two circles he will teleport on when he tries to teleport
-
Well they guy who said hunters were useless couldn't be more wrong I'm a hunter and out of my clan I'm one of the more predominant members GG is great for clearing out mobs.
-
Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya, Tomorrow!
-
I know the feeling keep being told my lv. 30 hunter is useless
-
i've seen the video's people glitching Atheon off with warlocks , but dont see the point . its a challenge to do the Vault of Glass the first few times learning the ropes , but doing it properly is more intense and fun for the pure rush of knowing you worked hard to earn the rewards you get from it . i've gone through 10 times on normal with my friends , i been trying to get the raid boots first but no luck !
-
I get your sentiment. My fireteam pushed the Templar and Atheon off for the first time Saturday night. We've beaten the VoG 5 times legit on normal, and we had two substitutes playing with us. One of the subs knew how to push them off so we just did it. It was a fun experience doing it this way, but it wasn't satisfying as it is when you beat it "legit." At this point, we're all pretty tired of getting crappy drops, and we aren't quite strong enough to push through on Hard (defending the 3 confluxes is the hardest part of the whole raid IMO). This was a nice and new way to beat the VoG on normal with our second characters. I'm glad Bungie is adding baby bumpers, but I'm also glad I had the opportunity to experience that exploit first hand.
-
Those players are shit and they won't last after the patch titans are worthless in the raid so are warlocks a gun is a gun ppl need to just stfu and not exploit the bosses killing the bosses are faster then throwing them off
-
Yeah nah, I wouldn't play with 'children' who want to glitch Anything. If you don't have the brains and skills to play the game the way it was intended to be played but have to resort to a work-around? Yeah, you get Zero props for 'skillz' since you obviously don't have them since you had to 'glitch' anything at all. Step up your game, don't find a cheap hack. Nobody with real skills or even an iota of pride would resort to a cheap tactic, especially a big one like glitching a boss. I want my game to be the best I can make it, I want my skills to show that I put in the effort for my rewards or 'bragging rights'. Not luck. Not a fluke. And most certainly not a 'glitch'.
-
And, forgot to mention in other post. Hunters are not useless in the VoG. Yes, they are definitively underpowered with all the void damage, and radiance is good in raids because it lets you self revive. But remember, there are at least 2 more raids. They are for the fallen and the hive. Both of the solar classes are mid range, and the hive are especially weak to solar damage. The 2 arc damage subclasses are VERY CQC. I doubt the raid against the fallen, who are weak to arc damage would prevent the people with arc damage from being Very important. So remember this, you may not be the most useful in the VoG, but there may be times in future raids that the other guardians cannot handle but you in that moment, are at the peak of you game.

I have never encountered this, I'm sorry. Switch to PS4 lol
-
Agreed. If you don't play with the right people believe me you will not enjoy the game. This is why I am skeptical about match making
-
Just wait for the update, half these exploit users won't know what to do with themselves because they didn't take the time to learn how to take each task on. Shitty part is most don't consider it a glitch, bug, exploit. They enjoy telling themselves they are using a different strategy, an not cheesing it. Tried to help random groups an just about every group, nobody had done anything but push Atheon off. Most hadn't even seen the Templar round because all they did was join end checkpoints. Most of them will be gone once COD comes out.... An hopefully then I can lend a helping hand to people that want to take the time to do it correctly. Btw most of the exploit users/cheese ballers find the Hunter to be a useless Raid class because you have no nade type to help push off. Every class in this game serves a purpose even in the Raid. Can only get better OP, once they patch up all these exploits.
-
The simple fact is.. Most people that do Raid, have already completed the raid on both normal and hard the "legit" way. Once you do it a few times.. It's just pointless to not take the shortcuts.
-
I've done the raid a number of times and allow me to share a recent experience that fits in with your "everyone is pro" post. We were a few short for our team (real life issues) so I turned to the forums to get some randoms. Now when one joins the first thing I ask is "how do you usually do this part". Since its always nice to learn new tactics for each part and more importantly if someone new is used to doing something its best to keep them doing it and i'll work my team around it since I get my team to switch positions frequently. So this one guy joins for a hard gatekeeper part then begins to tell us. "I do it the only way your supposed to do it". Not a good start, followed by his death a shocking number of times. So I question him more, his answer was. "My friend does this, My friend does that". At which point my teammate then asks "what do you do during this", to which his reply "I sit above the portals and wait". Thats what annoys me, people that shoot their mouth off telling others how to do it and lack the ability to contribute to the team. He kept dying so many times it was shocking, yet he left calling us noobs. Sorry I tend to ramble, but my point is people that the OP descibe breed these sorts of players, ones that sit in corners and just let others carry them through it and think they are raid veterans. I tend to see more of them lately which is dissapointing. In my eyes a raid vet is someone that can go into any position you ask them too and won't be a burden.
-
I prefer pushing the templar, his whole fight is mostly just annoying and if he teleports, you lose that chest. I've beaten him legit, and sorta feel like, if I wasn't meant to be able to push the bastard off a cliff and get more loot in the process, why shouldn't I be allowed to. If I fall if the cliff I die too.. fair is fair.
-
Dude I will join you. The most recent group I played with sounds like what you went through. It was fun up until the actual Templar fight. I was the only hunter and I was actually told to sit in a corner while they pushed the Templar off the edge. It work and went by fast but it was boring as hell. Now the atheon part we actually did legit. Sadly someone did complain that he wanted to push him off. The fire team leader mentioned that on his warlock character, he had an atheon checkpoint on hard. We decided to give it a shot and Jesus that was even more boring than the templar fight. For 30 minutes they argued that one warlock wasn't doing it right. Once they all got the whole idea they started getting mad that he wasn't in the right spot. While they did that, me and two other guys were just being teleported and killing oracle waiting for them to say "hey is falling off!" Or "it is working guys!". Finally one warlock got off them everyone got off...a huge waste of time.
