Destiny came and all of a sudden everyones "Pro". (A note on playerbase and the VoG)
Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
[b]What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.[/b]

Gunslinger hunters are good for taking out oracles, minotaurs, etc... Bladedancer isn't as great, but even they have uses. I think every class and subclass is a viable option. Striker titans can take elite minotaurs down to 33% health (from full health/shields) with their super if they do it right (aftermath or shockwave). Voidwalker warlocks can do some work with their super as well. Defender titan and sunsingers have obvious benefits...

7 RepliesI have to say though - Hunters really have it hard in PvE - 9/10 times speed has only been nice for getting from A - Z faster. Hunters have the WORST health regen. My Ult is a level 27 Hunter - My main is a 29 Titan. I barely feel the speed difference. Speed is trash in PvE. Maybe it should also effect reloads or something?

7 RepliesFirst of all, it's not a glitch, it's an exploit. If i can fall off a cliff, the boss should be able to as well. Second, if i spend that much time doing the raid without exploits, only to get shards, i'll rather minimize my time on the raid by using exploits. I can't tell you how many times i've done the raid only to get shards and energy.

Cheesing is just faster so I don't have to waste another 30 mins (if ppl keep dying) trying to beat him "legit". I've raided, deleted, raided, deleted (the list continues) my characters over and over again. I'm tired of beating him legit and some of us feel the same. Besides its FKN RNG you aren't guaranteed satisfactory in this game in ANY situation, game mode, nightfall etc.

4 RepliesCouldn't agree more. Taken that i was at atheon on hard and these 5 kids were glitching him making me go in and shoot oracles so they would get their supers. I basically was bosses around or threatened to be kicked haha. Little bastards. It sucked though I know beating him legit on hard would be hard.. But it would make it way more worth while. I got the mythoclast and the helmet from it but it just doesn't feel like I earned it. And I kinda sucks that you have no call when you're in a group who wants to push him. Either you help or you get kicked.

After you've beaten it legit several times it gets old going through the hassle of legit fights. If cheese gets me my rewards faster so what.

All you have to do is make it clear that you don't want to do the push at the start of the raid, if that's what the others want to do leave and find a team that don't want to. I don't care when in a raid fight or push it can take just the same amount of time sometimes, it really isn't that big of a deal

I have to say I feel rather lucky. While I have two friends that regularly play online I had to trug through the forums to find three more people for the VOG. To tell you the trough I didn't think that we would make it through it at all. However thanks to the three allies we found ( mainly two that had done the VOG before and one that had already done it once that day. ) we would stop before each part and plan it out. Talk and discuss for the people new to the group and decide what would work best. We didn't glitch Atheon and while it took two tries we ended with almost all of us laughing and talking like friends. One of our teammates still blind and walking into a corner while another one backed off a cliff. It took a few minutes longer than glitching the boss however we all had fun with it. When someone couldn't handle something we would send someone over to help. Honestly it was one of the most enjoyable times playing destiny for me. But hey that's just me. . . I like having fun and practicing teamwork.

12 RepliesI can tell you why I knock the both of them off the map. I've done this crap so much I'm tired of it. I'm tired of trying to beat it with people who are just not good enough to do it. I want to do it for them, give them their rewards, get mine. And get it over with. I liked my first time killing him legit, and maybe the 2-3 times after. But I'm so tired of it, 23 times is enough for me. If it can be quick and less painful to do. I'm all for it.

In my opinion, VOG is too complicated to be fun. It's hard to get 6 people together who know what to do, and even when you find the right people I have still found it to be an irritating experience. To me, it's a sign of bad design when you're forced to consult an outside source for the solution to something in a game (which is what 90% of everyone playing VOG will have had to do in order to know how to complete it). So, I understand why the players you were with were just into glitching. For a lot of people, that is the only way they'll ever get their hands on the gear available there (which isn't just armor but weapons and other stuff too). However, none of that excuses talking the kind of crap you described from the other players.

Killing the Templar and Atheon, is such an awesome experience. However it is sad that people who are level 29-30 have simply never killed him legit. I am not having a go at those who have pushed him off, its your game, do what you want with it. However, atheon on normal only takes about 10-15 minutes and the fight is probably the most fun I have had on destiny or any other co op game. I got asked to join a game from someone who had been trying to glitch atheon off for FOUR HOURS. That in my opinion is insane as he takes a fraction of that time to beat legit, even on hard (as long as everyone is 29-30). I am on 360, my gamertag is Raider1987, I am a level 29 warlock with only one piece of raid gear missing (the boots). I have run the raid 8 times, from start to finish without cheesing, two of those times were on hard. I love the raid, I think if you do no cheesing its the best Co Op experience available on a games console. The satisfaction of watching Atheon burst into flames can not be rivaled. If you want to do the raid, even if you are level 25 and it is your first time I have happily carried through many other players through their first raiding experience and I usually get it done in less than an hour.

Seriously! I had never completed the raid so I was desperate to find any group. The only group I found were awful at actually damaging the enemies and oracles. So they decided we should attempt the knock-off trick. Then when that didn't work, The group leader wanted us all to kill ourselves so Atheon would focus solely on him. It was fine the first ten times, After that he started getting upset because he was dying so he yells at the fireteam saying "You guys aren't being TEAM PLAYERS, You need to kill yourselves faster and stop wasting my time" Eventually the ass wipe quit in frustration without a word, we stayed in the vault and brought in a backup random, He convinced us to back out and attempt Hard Mode. Many of our group had never completed the raid fully so we were skeptical. But this person was more patient, and not expecting a flawless victory, And it turned out that many of our group completed the raid for the first time EVER! and it was also on HARD. I personally got the Helm, Sparrow, Epilogue first time! It really just goes to show that no matter how many exploits or anything is in the game, If you don't have good team work and patience for failures then you're gonna have a bad time no matter what. I don't blame people for using the Knock Off trick. They are underpowered and feel less than useful, so they want to become useful again so they glitch, they don't do it to personally hurt anyone or devalue your gear, they just want to not be looked down on by people and want to have a purpose in the game they play, No body wants to be the guardian at the tower holding a cardboard sign saying "WILL RAID FOR GEAR", begging people to help them, and feeling like a burden on people who quite frankly put in a little work and were incredibly lucky on a slot machine pull. Nobody is wrong for playing the game anyway that is available, without actually going into the data and making MODS. But it is being abused by elitist OCD assholes who like to rub level 30 in everyones faces! and tell you theres no way for you to complete a given challenge because you aren't like them! Now that is a really annoying problem!

I've not had a problem finding a group and I insist on doing everything legitimately. No returning to orbit so they can cheese the boss BS, that method is dumb and troublesome. You could beat the boss legit in the same amount of time it takes for that one guy to get him in place to fall off -_-; First time someone started doing that I snapped and said we're just gonna do it normal. Immediately they were like "we dun know how" I showed them, we did it our second try. Piece of cake. Been running with that same group ever since give or take a couple fills. As for hunters, the first people to down the raid had a group with five hunters. So tell that to anyone who complains about hunters next time. Stealthing for the relic in gatekeeper is straight up pro.

2 RepliesHunters are very strong. We can almost solo a Praetorian with our gunslinger super. If I had the 4th shot helm I know I could for sure. Having a void damage weapon like the Epilogue, I just shoot down his shield and pop my super and it's almost dead on Hardmode. Don't worry, everything will change once they implement the baby bumpers for the bosses. Warlocks will be the useless class then :P
