Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.

One of the best set of raiders run 3 hunter 3 wl.

Great post. If you're looking for a good strategic group that does the raid the legitimate way, add me, next time we need a 6th I'll invite you
-
Add me - we don't glitch the bosses. GT Netz Ausg
-
When we are pushing off the Templar it's always nice for you to arc blade or golden gun the Harpys so we can have orbs:). Everyone has a role to fulfill
-
Are you taking a piss? Just love when people say that lol first time I heard it I was like "uh...not yet but after this Monster I might.."
-
Take pot shots at aethon so that he won't fall off. Dude did it to us and it was hilarious. Personally if you get last the gatekeeper aethon is so much easier.
-
I would just make sure the next group you are in no one plans to push Atheon. I can understand the Templar a little. It's 100% guarantee at an extra chest, and it's easier to beat than the normal fight. Hunters can use The Swarm grenade to push the Templar. Also golden gun is the godliest ult. People can argue all day long that icebreaker does more damage, but I'd rather have a hunter golden gun when he's out of ammo on my team rather than a warlock sitting there doing nothing. The utility of it is amazing. Lots of damage divided between 3-4 shots, and you actually use your ult which makes orbs of light.
-
the guys i have played with have absolutely no idea what they were doing but thats the fun part, we will be learning on how to beat the VoG without glitching
-
I hate it when people do this, especially on normal. The one thing I always hear is, "but it's so much faster." Really? Because you've been trying to push Atheon off for 30 minutes and we could have killed him legit 4 times over by now. Templar isn't quite off the edge and about to enrage? Could've been dead five minutes ago if you weren't whining about cheesing him.

Loved your post, thanks for being a cool player.

Edited by Skyfir51: 10/26/2014 5:41:49 PMI love being told Im useless, yet still get invited for these damn cheese runs by multiple people because for some god damned reason, I am still useful to get through the portal for times vengeance. When this gets patched, and a method for cheesing atheon + Templar no longer exists, this fiasco will end and I hope to see alot more runs similar to my first hard mode completion. That first time just.. felt so much more satisfying.

Edited by Tdrow: 10/26/2014 4:56:00 PMPREACH!!! The Raid needs to be fixed.

This community is worse than CoD and ME3 combined. The VoG has been pretty much ruined because every level 27 and their cat has the mythoclast and full raid gear. I can guarantee most of them have never even played the vault all the way through. They just go in at Atheon and push him off. I don't know why Bungie has let something like this go on for so damn long. I'd be perfectly content giving up my mythoclast so all of these little shits can't have theirs if Bungie were to do an update like that. Get rid of all the hard raid gear (maybe normal?) and just start over after they patch the bosses. Anyone else think that's a good idea?
-
Honestly I am a pro at the raid haha can beat it with 2 people or 6 people. Can beat hard with my group in about 40 minutes without struggle and I know where and how to get all 7 chests. I also know about the secret cave that I'm guessing will be added into the raid later in a dlc. Ask me anything about the raid and I'm positive I will know about it.
-
I've beaten the raid on hard around 10 times or so half of those times I played it all the way through with no exploits, then I started to do it to save time. I have some friends who cannot devote a whole lot of time to playing the raid on hard so it is a lot easier to just glitch the bosses and help them beat it faster. I do agree that they should patch it and I have no problem beating it on hard (besides time maybe).
-
TL;DR op blames shitty VoG experience and feelings of uselessness on Americans.
-
I can't wait until they patch atheon and the Templar, my raid team has beat the raid fully on hard (legit) enough to know how to beat it in under 2 hrs on hard. Then when they patch it everybody will be whining that its to hard. while all the legit players will be the ones that everyone wants on their fire team.
-
Sounds like you just lucked out on some grade A losers. The few randoms i've played with were very polite. Hunters are far from useless in end game. It's just that warlocks and titans have more going for them that they kind of over shadow hunters late game. For instance warlocks can self res in the raid making things easier during slip ups. Titans have an unbreakable shield. Hunters can one shot oracles with golden gun. Which makes the portal run phase of atheon much easier. I will say that blade dancer is pretty much useless in endgame. The invisible to res is nice. But it's very situational.

you play on Xbox One lots of bad players hard to find a good group that guy that was bragging was probably a bad player anyways
-
I had a similar experience and not with "glitching", but with the community (and I use that term loosely) I was playing with. I am American and have made the same observations as the original poster. I've expressed this opinion numerous times and I'm at the point as a "tweener" (between hardcore and casual) that I just want bungie to express that the community they want is a min/max community so it can be the last straw to ditch the game. Because trying to find end game players with the same mentality of adventuring and experiencing the game is harder than it needs to be in my opinion. I don't need some 20 something yelling at me that I don't know the fight or that I'm useless because my class etc. and that I need to research before playing. Researching is not a game that's me and my thesis which is work and I play destiny to get away from that.
-
I'm happy people think the same about the legitimisy of finishing the raids. Also, since so many enraged Americans have posted on here claiming I'm stereotyping them, please accept my apologies and know that I only said that because it happened to be a younger murican who wouldnt stfu about how amazing he was. I don't think all of you are like that trust me <3
-
Maybe you should do the un-thinkable, and play with friends only.
-
Edited by James: 10/26/2014 5:23:27 PMQuite honestly, when I get into raids with people I don't know or helping them out for the first time they almost always ask me, "Can we cheese this Atheon/Templar", I ALWAYS respond with a quick no because not only do you need to learn how to do it yourself but doing it the "Cheese" way isn't that rewarding. I almost always find it faster to just kill the bosses and they are the easy part of the raids anyways.
-
Great post, OP. I suggest you view this thread and show your support for fixing these exploits. If you can't beat the raid fair and square, you shouldn't beat the raid.

Hunter master race

I'm surprised they glitched through normal mode. But it gonna be near impossible to find a clean hard mode group
