Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.
For this asking I'm on xbone

Edited by xRANDALLxFLAGG: 10/26/2014 6:48:00 PMI have been in both of types of groups. Usually, we vote as a group which way to do it. if anyone really does not want to do a push off I would never force it. My usual weekly normal group prefers to do it legit which I do as well. Nothing better than working as a solid team to kill them fully. There are times when you know the group can not do it without a push off....I do not always leave. ps added u
-
Yeah, you definitely want to do it the legit way for your first time. Sorry for fellow American annoyance. :P
-
to be honest for me I don't understand how anyone has fun in the VoG anymore, its been out for like 6 weeks. im not saying its a bad thing if you have fun but ill be honest ive done VoG a lot but I find its pointless because I have gotten the shaft from RNG the past 5 weeks, so I push aetheon and Templar off for the simple fact I want to get the raid done as fast as possible because I find it boring, BUT i play with randoms and make sure everyone is okay with doing it like this so i don't end up offending people in the game like you were offended when this happened to you
-
Theee damn Americans~
-
Why you stayed with a group you didn't enjoy playing with is beyond me.
-
yea that happens alot..people who cheese the bosses alot are problably the main ones who used the loot cave back in the day. Amerika is based on consumerism...they dont care about the process, only the end result.
-
So find a different group.
-
IT's not just that... Hunter specials don't benefit in VOG as much as the other classes. Defender titans for example can not only throw up the helpful Ward of Light but Weapons of Light buff can really burn down Templar and Atheon. Warlocks self-res ability makes them incredibly useful in Hard mode because an accidental death can be instantly reversed. Hunters on the other hand are limited to a small amount of dps on only a handful of targets. I wouldn't even use my bladedancer considering how close you must get to mobs and Gunslinger only gives you a couple powerful rounds which are roughly equivalent to the Icebreaker... My main is a Hunter by the way.

For some reason people who beat the raid on this forum think they are superior to everything holy. Its scripted AI, I hate to break it to them. You beat it 20x? Congratulations you repeat the SAME scripted AI 20 times.
-
I think the other issue is that it's tough to come together like you say when you are with randoms who jump in and out. I love working together with my buddies as a team and beating a boss. Sometimes though you get a group who you don't feel that connection with so you just want to get it done
-
Edited by Darth Kai: 10/26/2014 7:09:08 PMThis exact situation happened with my buddy and I the other day. All the other guys (mostly) wanted to do was try and push him off. After a while with Atheon, I finally bitched and said let's just try killing him, you know, considering we get these crazy damage multipliers and we've gotten good and staying alive. 3-4 deaths later, we had it beat. Everyone was impressed with how easy that was, just killing him...... sigh. Most people seemed to be more interested in beating games these days, instead of playing them.
-
"but I must say the actual raid itself was rather poor." "AND NO, I'm not saying anything about the Raid itself, more about the people I played with." You just did...and again... "and no offence but you Americans always have a mouth on you" "im not saying all Americans are like this, it just happened to be that this guy was American" facepalm... As for Hunters. If you're playing Hard VoG, Hunters are great for going into the portal and gold gunning the 3 enemies in the middle of each side. Saves a lot of pointless deaths and has made the ending of hard mode much easier. Also, we went 4 hunters in Hard VoG and beat it, so any character will do.

Edited by Malacite: 10/26/2014 7:05:09 PMAnd this is just 1 of many reasons why it's important for developers to properly test content and fix bugs ASAP. My group's always praising me during the Raid for how quickly I decimate the supplicants during the Atheon Battle with my golden gun (I usually have the highest kill count in general at each stage of the Raid). Blade Dancer really is essentially useless (suicidal even) but Gunslinger sure as hell isn't. You my friend simply ran into what's commonly referred to as an elitist in MMO circles, and a rather big prick at that. Just ignore him and continue on your merry way, don't let ignorant jerks like him ruin your fun.
-
Hunters are useless in raids. Bladedancer is a good way to get yourself killed and icebreaker is better then golden gun.
-
You mad
-
Yeah the raid really needs to be patched. Now that im level 30 and have gotten all the good raid weapons and armor I'm anxious for them to patch it as soon as possible so others won't get all the stuff I have Get to it Bungie!
-
Lol if not all Americans are like that than why say Americans always do it?
-
So you leached? You could have left if it bothered you that much. Js.
-
Yeah you got stuck with a shitty group. It happens when you go for randoms.
-
the point of hunters in the templar is to have everyone else pushing him and the hunters run around and destroy the oracles to save you some frustration its work great
-
Man if you were on PS4 I could help you out. My clan does the fights the legit way since there's no point practicing something that will eventually get patched. (I play hunter as well and love every second of it)
-
Your timing of this post is perfect. I've had some similar experiences lately with Bungie's "old skool" matchmaking. I left the link for my rant above. Too bad Bungie can't see that there's a trend here.
-
I feel your pain, man. My clan is never on, so I have to raid with randoms all of the time. They'll spend an hour trying to push Atheon off of the ledge ON NORMAL, where a good team could literally kill him in one or two runs through the portal, which would take all of five minutes. I wish the raid had matchmaking, because I still can't find anyone who will do the hard mode with me. At least with matchmaking, we could jump from one of team of idiots to another quickly until we found one without try hard cheaters.
-
Edited by Caru93: 10/26/2014 6:14:37 PMHunters, in general, are the weakest for the raid. That's not to say they're useless, though. Warlocks and Titans both have support-style supers that bring more to the team than hunters do. That said, I do somewhat understand if people want to glitch the Templar off the edge with grenades. It's not only faster, but does also give you an extra chest easily - normal or hard. I hardly see the point in glitching Atheon off on normal, it's extremely easy to just do that legit. I do, however, understand wanting to do it on hard. I've had a full team of 30's, myself being the only 29, and still spending 3 hours on the gatekeeper + atheon legit. Most people want to get the loot the easiest way possible, because doing it the hard way is time spent. Time spent doing something that's nearly impossible to do without that loot to begin with(something that's 100% up to RNG). I've done both normal and hard legit; I've met the challenge; I've spent the time. After completing it god knows how many times, I'm a bit tired of spending hours on end getting 5 time breakers, 5 of the same raid helmet, 4 VoG ships, 3 visions of confluence, 3 found verdicts, 2 corrective measures. Not one Atheon's epilogue. No Fatebringer. No Vexmythoclast. Only one pair of raid gloves. I get the same items I already have, constantly. I have more shards and energy than I can even imagine what to do with right now. I'm a little disappointed each time I don't get something I'm still trying to get, sure. But I'm not that bothered by it. I'm used to getting boned by RNGesus(in this game and others). You may not like the idea of glitching him off, and that's fine. But not everyone enjoys having to go to a third-party website to try and scrounge up whatever unorganized, impatient people you can find. Don't get me wrong, I've met some of the coolest people this way, but I've also had my absolutely most infuriating experiences on Destiny this way as well. IF there were matchmaking, at least it'd be fairly quick to find people. Or even a way to show that you're looking for a raid group in the tower would be nice, so you can check people out before you invite them. If I'm with random people, I'd rather just get it done as quick and easily as possible. I'd rather get it done, instead of spending 2 hours attempting to finish the Templar or Atheon fight legit, and then having some Dunning-Kruger ragequit. It'll be patched soon, though. So it's not even worth raging about. If you want to do it legit, just look for a group all on that same page. Explicitly say you don't want to glitch/cheese. Complaining about it is pointless and just makes you look like a fool, honestly. Everyone has their own priorities, and they may not be shared by yourself. That's life.

Sounds good you can add me too same gt

One of the best set of raiders run 3 hunter 3 wl.
