Clearly they have a liquid heat transfer system and an internal radiator that must have airflow to disperse the heat into the atmosphere. It worked fine in cars for centuries, so they figured they'd adapt it, while getting an added bonus of a human simulacrum of breathing to boost ease of interaction with humans.
