Dear Comrades in Destiny,
I very much agree that the built-in aim assist is too active, and often interferes with shot selection.
This is especially noticeable when trying to kill a priority target mixed in a clump of targets which are all in motion.
Other players have commented that aim assist messes up their shot selection in PvP play as well as PvE.
The tracker will try to follow and actually pulls the scope in the direction of a target which may have crossed in front of the priority target.
Whether the priority target is a Fallen Captain, Armored Enemy, Praetorian, Cabal Chain Gunner, or enemy player in Crucible, we've all experienced the aiming system "pulling" away from our desired target. This is frustrating.
Hello BUNGIE, your community is asking for an option to turn Auto-Aim OFF !
Most experienced players don't need the overpowered help being provided. We aren't yet senile, blind, or have lost motor control.
If you agree that the Aim Assist is a problem and needs an "OFF" Option, please respond to this poll.

I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but a system that knows you have a target sighted, which would then shut off auto aim, would be ideal. If I'm sighted on a Knight, the Thrall running across my target line shouldn't draw me off. I don't want it turned off completely... -blam!- that, I'm not that good. But smarter aim assist would be ideal.

I hate trying to cover team mates from a sniper and another enemy jumps in to my line of sight and the sniper pulls away.

Edited by kasra-kzs: 12/16/2014 10:48:36 PMIs there an aim assist or auto aim in destiny game on ps4? I do not have this option or its turned off in my destiny gameplay. I aim on targets completely manual. What is the pb? Im confused.

Edited by Lyberatis: 10/17/2015 7:55:53 AMI'm sniping a guy. A random rere flailing his arms around runs behind the guy I'm trying to snipe. My aim assist goes, "OOOOH GET THAT ONE!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!111" and drags my aim off my target; the one that's shooting at me. And I die. Cmon Bungie, you made such a huge stride with Destiny being your first game with a game-sound audio slider. Please let me turn off Aim-inhibitor.

Its absurd that i can not turn aim assist off. I always turn it off. I will not buy any dlc for destiny until i can turn it off. And for the people saying it has to be there cause off thumbsticks, my kdr has always been between 2 and 3 and some times higher WITHOUT aim assist. Im talking about COD 2 and 3 BO1 and 2, BF3 and 4 ,killzones 1-3 Borderlands 1 and 2 just to name a few. I can understand its in the game, for obvious reasons, but there should be a way to turn it of completely. I definetly do not want to shoot ai with aa on. And if this will make me get my ass kicked in online mp, so be it. But i wanne bet it wont. SO PLEASE GIVE ME THE OPTION TO TURN IT OFF!

Perfect example is when your trying to solo the nexus strike on nightfall and the goblins that spawn drags your rocket launcher down towards the wall your behind the exadt same moment your about to shot the nexus... 5 TIMES NOW!!!!

I call this the pull out
-
where i think this should be an option to turn off or turn down i dont think it will happen since aim assist is part of weapon balance. hand cannons for example have much higher aim assist than scout rifles. also bungies aim assist is more indepth and complicated than most other games.
-
The option wouldn't do as much as to just turning it off, they jut need to get rid of it permanatly so people that suck stop doing good.
-
OP should add an option to the poll for Bungie to implement a slider to customize the intensity of the auto aim where 10 is equal to the current autoaim settings and 0 is completely off. That way the user can find for themselves how much help they need in aiming.

Causes nothing but problems. Trying to take out enemies during the Templar fight, but with all of the harpies flying around the game is pulling me away from the key targets I am trying to hit. Same in crucible. Primary example is I went to throw a trip mine and another enemy jumped between me and my target. My screen suddenly shifted to the guy jumping and the mine went NOWHERE near anything relevant. I feel I'd be better without...

Need to get rid of this or give us the option

Last Poll question should read: "YOU MEAN I'M NOT AN INCREDIBLE SHOOTER ? D'OH !"

Edited by ChiknAriseMcFro: 3/21/2015 9:03:47 PMBump. I too grow quite weary of this. Auto aim gets me killed more than it helps. Always turn it off when I can. We could do this in Halo right? I don't understand why Bungie would leave it out of this one.
-
There is no reason other than to hinder gamers as to why you can't turn that garbage off.
-
Has anyone from Bungie even acknowledged this on the forums yet? What gives?
-
Completely agree. There is no reason that aim assist should not be toggle-able. Particularly infuriating for Crucible.

Edited by Twelve Gauge: 12/2/2014 5:22:51 AMBUMP One of the most annoying things in this game, i can't believe no one's commenting here...ffs

I keep finding reasons to dislike this game. This & sprint pause are really starting to piss me off. Following an enemy around a corner just to be stopped because another enemy comes in, not scoped, is absurd. Trying to throw a grenade in a specific spot, but have it go elsewhere because an enemy pops in, & blow up in my face, is absurd. I have never played a game with this nonsense. The whole point of playing this game now, is to get my character leveled up with good gear & play crucible, giving the game a long replay life. If this is enabled so that kids can play & don't have to get good, I'll drop this game & play something else. Get it resolved please.

Or you could learn to aim?
