Are helpful people a dying breed?
why is it so difficult to find people actually willing to help and just have fun with? so what if you wipe a few times, shits n giggles ... and to people saying it's because they don't like wasting time , guess what? you're playing a game! you already are wasting time!
what happened to just playing for fun, why is it being replaced by "i can do it faster" or "i have more kills!"
it's co-op , yet seems many people forgot what co-op is :(

Kudos to you. I define a good gamer by the fun factor that they present. Not by their KD ratio nor by them trying to run through a strike as quickly as possible. Not by what gear they have nor how many times they've beat a raid.

We had a lvl 26 and then the leader invited some elitist ass who thought he was the most amazing thing on this planet. He called out saying how hard it will be with a 26 and that's why we were wiping. If ppl can't defend then he's just going to leave because he's wasting his time. It was a pug of first timers. Kind of discouraging seeing as I'd actually like to learn the raid so I can help my friends with it next week. If anyone needs a lvl 28 Titan today around 6 pacific time on the Xbox one, I'd love to start a fresh raid.

A couple of weeks ago I had a day off and was in the tower grabbing bounties when I got an invite. The person was right in front of me did a bowing animation so I joined up with him. Between him and another friend of mine we brought him up about 10 levels and he became a very good and loyal teammate. He even puts his kid on who does better at the crucible than both me and my primary buddy that I play with, the kid is is like 10 and we're in our 30's. Meanwhile over this past weekend I was exchanging some equipment between characters and came out of my menu to find myself surrounded by a bunch of players pointing at me, then I got a request to go to the VoG. I was already in play mode with some friends so was grabbing bounties and gearing up for playing with them but they kept following me and pointing. It felt like some odd in-game hazing ritual and was really awkward and uncomfortable and felt like being put on the spot. I have no problem helping people when they're respectful and want to participate, but being forceful like that group was doing was very off-putting

1 ReplyI've helped so many people do the VOG I can basically do it with a blindfold. This weekend alone I logged around 7-10 hours in the Vault of Glass alone over 5 or 6 runs. I carried 5 people who had never beaten the Vault before through the entire thing. I put together a team of 4 of my high level friends just so I could carry my level 24 friend through the raid, and yes we beat it. Helpful people are not gone, they're there, they're just too busy helping people out to be everywhere at once.

I genuinely like helping people and seeing them successful. Yeah, weird right?! So, to anybody that's bored and can't find groups (hell, even if you can find groups), don't worry if people have shot ya down and called you annoying. I have kids, I can handle your shenanigans. That isn't to say I won't ever help. I carried a 26 through the nightfall last week because I had an open spot despite him adding more enemies and health for me to deal with. However, I have no obligation to do that. I'm only 28 and get a bunch of random invites. I can't imagine the annoyance 30s must deal with.

I don't mind helping people in normal but in hard no. If people don't listen in hard it gets old wiping every 30-60 seconds.

Friday night I actually ran the raid with 5 guys that had never done it before. "I didn't know this when I joined" i stayed and showed them how to get through most of it. We made it to the gate keeper before I had to leave.

In the defense of players who, "don't like wasting time" I can understand where some of them come from since many people just don't have the kind of time they would really like to spend playing the game vs. how much time they actually have to do it. If I have 2 hours available to play today and I really want to do VoG on Hard mode, I'm not going to stick around for a fire team that can't communicate or organize and if they do communicate it's random nonsense that is completely irrelevant to the current task. Then they wonder why they couldn't complete the zone... As for helping others I rather enjoy helping people who send me a message with an invite to do the daily or weekly or a strike.

1 ReplyIf i get sent a message asking for help then i will. However spamming inv's to me will not get my help. How hard is it to send someone a message saying, I'm stuck on this could you give me hand. I gladly do and will help people, its what i like about the game.

1 ReplyIt's all in the people you find. I have had folks like that, that never take the time to help, but at the same time I have had those that love to help. Personally I think helping others makes any game, but especially co-op games. Just like last night, id working on the thorn bounty and got to the end with xyor and I got a reply to my forum post looking for help. At this point I had worked through the strike by myself and had it almost finished, with xyor having one or two more hits. Anyway I got a message from a guy working on it also, but back a couple steps working on the void kills. Long story short i ended up sitting there for an hour and a half till the fellow finished up the void like and joined me to finally kill xyor

I enjoy helping people out. I am almost a lvl 29 and by no means the best. But anytme someone sends me an invite I answer the call. On the weekend alone I carried countless 24 and 25's through the weekly's etc. And by carried had 3 times the kills and finished the boss solo. Didn't care, it was just fun playing, getting to know new people, even if I had done the missions several times. Just wondering if I should give my guardian the night off tonight.
