Ok. My parents are in the military, so I'm used to moving. The thing is, am I happy to move to Texas? HECK YES!!!!
I have never been more happy in my life! I am currently 15 years old and am a sophomore in high school. i have never been to a real city or high school in 6 years! Our first station was Germany. Not going to complain. It was a great cultural experience. I liked it. 3 years of my life was spent there and I grew up there. So you can guess that I have German culture in my life. Then after, I was told we were moving to California. I was really happy. Then I realized that it was all a mistake. We are on the border of Nevada, 2 hours away from Las Vegas, and 30 minuets away from Death Valley. The closest city is Barstow. It is the most shiz city I have ever been too. So not only was I in German cities for 3 years, now I only get to go to either a shiz city or a military city, which isn't great. 3 years in this horrible place have passed. Now we get to move again. This time tho, we get to move to San Antonio, Texas. I absolutely love this! The high school looks like a college, and there is everything I could want. Is it sad to think that I am excited to walk down the street to a Walmart? I haven't been to one in 6 years!!! I haven't been to a fast food restaurant or Real American stores for 6 years! I haven't been to a real school in 6 years!!! I think you can guess how excited I am to move.
I have a huge question. What is it like in the real world these days? Is there something I should know about a real high school? Is the fast food even good? Are there cute girls?
Thanks!
I STILL CANT BELIEVE IM MOVING!
See all those other tips? Memorize them Then -blam!- them The only thing you'll need to know is DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE SOCIAL HIERARCHY The social hierarchy you'll find in high school is unlike anything you'll ever encounter It will chew you up and spit you out You may feel compelled to join it Or maybe stay away from that Either way, be wary

I'll take K-town over Ft Sam Houston. Hell I'd take Graf over Tx as long as it is on the permanent party side of the house. How is the server connection over there?
-
I have buddies at fort Sam. I am a local Texan lol. And how have you not had fast food? Every base in Germany has 5 burger kings lol
-
My dad was navy 20 years, I understand the moving man. I feel your pain. But good luck man. Make friends and enjoy your time where ever you are

Edited by Rhynerd: 10/26/2014 8:52:39 AMMy dad was a base kid until his parents decided to settle down in Florida, he shared so many stories about his life from those times. Though I'm willing to doubt that military kids of this day and age take as much stuff from the military as they used to. Though to try and answer some of your questions: - what fast food places are around you? - what kind of real high school is this one? - there will probably be cute girls there.
-
So Ft. Irwin or China lake. Both suck ass. Either way, hopefully you will be amongst the real world soon.
-
lol texas

"Hot girls" irrelevant if you're ugly. But hey, gl. And don't be an Ebola bitch, you're not gonna get it.
-
Avoid avoid avoid the fast food places. They are so bad and gross for you.

Good for you! I've moved once and I don't like the place where I moved but it isn't too bad but still I don't like it as much as the place I was before but good for you

You have to go dove hunting, that is literally one of the best things about the American southwest. Get yourself a 20G and a pickup and go driving out on the ranch roads an hour before sundown. God I miss that so much.
-
Lackland Airforce base? I've lived here in San Antonio since like 7th grade and I'm currently in college so I can tell you what's cool around your area (wherever that may be)
-
Ah ha you already # it! Don't let anybody sneeze or vomit on you. Ebola has a 21 day incubation period, can survive 70 hours on fluid outside the body, and is 50-95% fatal.

My grandparents live just outside Fredericksburg Texas (if you liked Germany, you'll like Fredericksburg), it's about 70 miles north of San Antonio... I used to spend my summers in Texas at their ranch, and we would go to San Antonio on the weekends. It's a great city (probably my favorite city in Texas, Ft. Worth is a close second). The atmosphere/culture is amazing, plus it's Texas so the people are great. Also "Mi Tierra" is one of the best places you will ever eat (if you like Tex-Mex food). -ShadowWolf
P.S. If you'd like to learn about Texas history, then Austin is a good place to start. However, don't listen to people who say that it's the best place in Texas, or that it's the only "normal" city in Texas, because quiet frankly it's a weird city, and pretty out of place when it comes to Texas cities.

P.P.S. If you ever do go to Fredericksburg, be sure to stop by the "Admiral Nimitz Museum". It's a neat place, especially if you like WW 2 history.
Your going to HS with Texas girls and Hispanic girls. Basically paradise for a young man. Have fun.
-
Austin is the only city in Texas I would ever go to. Also, fast food good? Gross.
-
San Antonio is cool. I'm from houston but SA has way more shit. The river walk, the Alamo, sea world, six flags fiesta Texas. Then up north about thirty minutes you have the Guadalupe river. There is also canyon lake. SA has a lot of Latinos so you might need to pick a Spanish phrase book. It's a nice town you'll really like it!
-
Hmm, are you going to El Paso?

"Alaska, pissin' off Texas since 1959!"

been in Texas 15+ years now. just tell everyone you lived in Germany and you'll be pretty cool. Speak some German and you'll be even cooler :-) I just found out that no other state school have peprallies or create and wear mums. what city are you moving to?
-
The closest city is Barstow.
I had a nice and loud chuckle when I read that, then stopped there 'cause tl;dr. Also, lol, Texas... Enjoy the Ebola...

Don't have lots of sex it's going to go bad fast if you do lots of girls at my old high school ruined themselves because of...
THE D
Fast food tastes good, and then you feel like shit afterwards. You'll love it for the first two months or so. Girls it all depends on where you live. School will either go really bad, or really good. Your in Highschool, so being the new kid will probably be fine. Everyone will be friendly and laid back, and you'll find a niche group to stick to.
