When I decided to take this challenge issued to my guardian I had no idea what to expect. I looked at the mission breifing only to find that my vanguard mentor hadn't assigned to me a squad in order to take down this assignment. When I asked my mentor who I had trusted for so long why I was alone he told me that he wont send his guardians off to a mission that has consumed so many lights so far. It was up to me to assemble a small squad in order to even start this mission.
My mentor had told me about a place in the darkest corner of the universe where the roughest, toughest, and meanist guardians ever to fight the darkness. They called this place The Forum. Searching for days on end I finally found a hunter and a warlock to join my cause to end this greatest darkness.
Finally we got to our destination, Venus, and our mission destroy the Nexus of the Vex Underground to prevent the machinification of Venus. We had all ran the simulation countless times on varying difficulty levels, but nothing could prepare us for what the enemies of darkness truly possesed. My fireteam entered the N/Gen Branch, but little did we know the fallen had already prepared for our arrival and we were ambushed and I was instantly shot in the shoulder and that when I knew that this was no simulation. I slide behind a crate waiting for my auto-healing device to kick in while my partners took cover as well.
Once all of our enemies started crawling out of their hiding places we began to launch our counterattack, this wasnt for glory, or for the traveler's sake, we were fighting for our lives. We refused to let our light be extinguished by the minons of darkness and thats when our hunter discovered something. She yelled "QUICK SWITCH TO ALL YOUR SOLAR WEAPONS!" We looked at her like she was crazy since the the only enemy with a weakness to solar was the many shanks hovering around, but she seemed confident and we quickly switched our weapons and it seemed to be a miracle. Our enemies just started dropping like flies to the might of our solar energy.
After fighting our way into the main complex we found ourselves a moment of peace we demand an explanation of our hunter's knowledge. Turns out she was a seasoned veteran of the crucible and most of her training was overseen by the mentors of the crucible. She had encountered this phenomenon during a training battle on the mechanized Mercury. It was something about the vex that amplifies the power of solar energy. We were happy to here that our mission would be that much easier, but our hunter remained distraught. We then put 2 + 2 together and realized that if our guns were getting this effect then that means Venus has almost been lost to the Vex.
Fighting through hordes of enemies we finally reached Venus' heart and with it the bastard turning it into a machine The Nexus. We jumped down into the pit, ended the minotuars guarding the Nexus and our final battle had begun against a darkness unlike any other. We began to unload all the solar energy we could muster into the Nexus' eye where he would take the most damage. Everything was going smoothly until we forgot one of the most crucial details, the Vex share one mind. All of a sudden we were surrounded by goblins, hobogoblins and harpies. We were being overrun, we were running out of ammo, were we going to die? We were so close we would have ended the darkness surrounding Venus we couldnt let it end here could we? All of a sudden our hunter pulled out her blade and began slashing through all of the Vex and ultimately saving all of us. The next part though happened to fast to realize she had missed a hobogoblin in the back corner and it shot straight through her she dematerailized and all that was left was her ghost floating in a blue light. We couldnt allow her ghost be consumed by the darkness and we both ran out to revive her. I took care of the hobogoblin while my warlock friend was supposed to pick her up and has I turned around my ghost gave me the notification that I was the last guardian standing. I turned to see the Nexus hovering over the ghosts of my two friends. I try to run I die, I try to save my friends and I die. Either way I was a deadman, until something strange happened the Nexus began attacking my friends ghosts as if it could still feel their light. I took my opportunity to start running the chamber and ultimately leading the Nexus away from their ghost. I was able to come full circle back to their bodies. The Nexus wasnt just gonna allow me to pick up my friends, but I had an ace in the hole. I channelled all my energy and created an impenetrable ward of dawn. I was able to restore the light of my fallen teammates and together we destroy The Nexus. The Nexus exploded into a great ball of fire we had to shield our eyes. When we regain our ability to see clearly a handcannon was laying in my hands. The gun was golden with a crazy design on it and what looked like the ability to rapid fire. My warlock friend shouted "WHOA THATS THE LAST WORD HANDCANNON DUDE YOU'RE SO LUCKY" I gave the gun a good twirl, old western style, and on the Last Word I swore that this is only the beginning of my legend and my destiny.
