TIMELINE:
Pre-GoldenAge, Traveler Discovery, Golden Age, Darkness Discovery, The Collapse, the after effects (Forming the Consensus, Building the City, ect.), Destiny I, The Future/Sequels.
Being an Awoken breaks the game. I know your attention span is about 10 minutes #Destiny, so I'll keep it brief.
In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery. This is implied and stated through quotes and the story (or lack thereof).
In game lore fact: The Awoken were created by the Collapse, after they tried to escape into space. This is stated by grimoire, promotions for the game, and many other things.
Rationalized Opinion: Your character, an Awoken who can channel the Travelers light, should not exist because the Awoken did not exist until after the Collapse. Think about it. Your character has to be "Pre-GoldenAge" and the Collapse does not occur until later down the timeline.
So, Bungie, you screwed up. Now what? We get it, Staten leaving leaves the story much to be desired. The one thing you should not do is ignore this.
Plz Leik, Folo, Rate, Subscribe, Reblog, Sacrifice to Satan, ect.
So, #Destiny, what do you think of this? Discuss.

fact two: agreed. fact one: not agreed. result: nope.
-
There was originally going to be different introductions based on your race but it was cut with the rest of the story so everyone has the Exo beginning. The human and awoken intros gave too much away and didn't fit with the cut down story.
-
It's race supposedly had their own starting spot/story until it was scraped for what we all have as the Exo start. Maybe that's why it doesn't make sense
-
I always lol'd when ghost is explaining what the awoken were to you during the story mission, like really? I am one duh
-
I always thought we died sometime after the traveler and that the traveler somehow made us special and capable of being revived (assuming you can locate the body) and that most of the people in the city only died once, hence we need to protect them rather than just come back later and revive them all. As such, these awoken were special humans or descendants of special humans before the collapse. At least that's how it works in my mind.
-
The ghost says you have been dead for centuries, he doesn't specifically say that you have been dead since before the collapse.
-
I settled on being an exo for a character because the customization options for humans and awoken are so.............gay. Also being an awoken probably doesn't make sense because when you think about it nothing makes sense in the game because the story simply isn't there. We'll have the privilege of buying it..
-
Are people still convinced destiny actually has a story? Sorry I gave up that dream a while back. Bungie clearly doesn't give a damn about story and PvE. The fact that the next "expansion" pack will have only 3 story missions but 5 new crucible maps says a lot.
-
Your character likely died during the collapse, almost certainly not pre-golden age
-
I'm pretty sure it's never stated that you died pre-golden age
-
lol the story in this game become really weird if you play as awoken
-
"In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery. This is implied and stated through quotes and the story (or lack thereof)." No. I think it's time for you to learn your facts.
-
Now for the gaping hole in the head of your Theory. Your Theory relies on the Lynchpin that your character died Pre-Traveler. You have no evidence to support this claim. The Collaspe was a massive war in which untold numbers of countless people died. The Awoken Grimore card states this: "It is said that the Awoken were born in the Collapse, descended from those who tried to flee its wrath. Something happened to them out on the edge of the deep black, and they were forever changed." Further Grimore cards state that Awoken survived in refugee camps on Earth, seeking the Last City in the waning years of the Dark Age. From the Ghost Fragment of the Dark Age: "From the deep black came the Awoken, their eyes haunted." Further more the Dark Age was when the Ghosts began to seek out dead to become Guardians. "And among them came the Ghosts, beginning their search" Awoken existed and made their way to Earth long before the existence of Ghosts were confirmed. Dead Awoken everywhere from the Collapse and the Dark Age to make up the Awoken Guardians of the City Age which is the age we are in now.

I hate how my Awoken characters refer to their race as 'Awoken' and not 'us' or something inclusive. I don't care if the queen thinks little of Earth-bred. Stop referring to yourselves in third person!
-
Error. Where does it say the char died before the traveler discovery?
-
The leaked intel suggested that the start was just for the Exo which makes sense - it´s not very logical for a little machine like the ghost to "hack" something organic back to life what was decayed millenia before.
-
I hate Activision so much
-
What lore..?
-
Where does it say anywhere that the character died before the travelers discovery? My opinion is that they died during the collapse
-
Supposedly each character was supposed to have a different intro into the world. Everyone wasn't just revived by a ghost..who knows
-
If you go by the info leaked by that person that worked on the game it's because Bungie -blam!-ed up the story and cut out the content that would have had unique opening missions for exo/human/awoken. The opening everyone plays now is supposedly the exo opening which makes a lot more sense when the ghost isn't bringing a skeleton back to life but just rebooting a broken down exo.
-
Uhm, what? Our character didn't die before the Traveler was discovered. Given the information in the game, our Guardian died during or soon after the Collapse.
In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery. This is implied and stated through quotes and the story (or lack thereof
). No, that's not a 'fact'. If anything, it's outright false. We died outside the Cosmodrome, which was a Golden Age spaceport. That destroys this supposed 'fact' right from the get-go. Judging by the information given to us in the game, our character died during the Collapse, not Pre-Golden Age, which is why we can be Awoken.

#R8 You can't say Rate when you have Leik and Folo. R8,

Bungie has screwed up so badly in the sorry department. It feels like they purposely cut content not only for DLC, but so that later Destiny games sell. So many "basic" features of contemporary games are missing in Destiny. Sure, the base gameplay is fun, but when Wolfenstein the New Order has Better Grimoire cards in game, there is a problem.
