TIMELINE:
Pre-GoldenAge, Traveler Discovery, Golden Age, Darkness Discovery, The Collapse, the after effects (Forming the Consensus, Building the City, ect.), Destiny I, The Future/Sequels.
Being an Awoken breaks the game. I know your attention span is about 10 minutes #Destiny, so I'll keep it brief.
In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery. This is implied and stated through quotes and the story (or lack thereof).
In game lore fact: The Awoken were created by the Collapse, after they tried to escape into space. This is stated by grimoire, promotions for the game, and many other things.
Rationalized Opinion: Your character, an Awoken who can channel the Travelers light, should not exist because the Awoken did not exist until after the Collapse. Think about it. Your character has to be "Pre-GoldenAge" and the Collapse does not occur until later down the timeline.
So, Bungie, you screwed up. Now what? We get it, Staten leaving leaves the story much to be desired. The one thing you should not do is ignore this.
Plz Leik, Folo, Rate, Subscribe, Reblog, Sacrifice to Satan, ect.
So, #Destiny, what do you think of this? Discuss.

You also forgot when someone is a female warlock. There is no such thing a female warlock, the proper term is witch. Warlock is the male version of a witch. So basically anyone that creates a female warlock is a shemale.

Awoken are people who left during the battle that caused the collapse if you read your Gilmore cards which clearly you didn't it says some of the awoken couldn't stand by while others were dying so they left the reef to return and help fight back but they too we killed. The reason the queen treats you just the same as any other if your playing an awoken is because she doesn't view you as an awoken since you left. the end.
-
The only part that breaks the lore for me is when you meet the queen and she talks to you like you ARENT also an awoken >_>(if playing as an awoken)
-
Ehh I think that's a little simplistic, the game takes place centuries after the collapse, an awoken could have easily ventured to earth and been killed, only to be brought back by the traveller's light.
-
This is why I slap my friend every time he says he wants to play as a dwemer in skyrim.

Some people definitely messed up somewhere a long the line with the story but the destiny train just kept on chuggin.... -blam!- those tracks!!! We're going into spaaaaaaceeee!!!!!?
-
I believe it was mentioned that the current 'Eyes Up' was meant only for Exo's, with the origins being different for Humans and Awoken planned but not implemented.
-
Hotfix GFY-14: fixed a bug allowing players to use an exploit to make awoken fallen characters
-
The Awoken are humans that were greatly affected by the darkness meaning they did not have enough light to stop the darkness. If your player is an Awoken it can make complete sense, you were a human who had light (which is why you revived by your ghost), but your light was weaker than others so even in death you were affected by the darkness turning you into an awoken. It also explains why even your player does not know what an Awoken is even though they are one.
-
I see your point. Unfortunately we cant draw any conclusions because Bungie has be gracious enough to NOT give us the story they promised, even when you look into the grimoire cards
-
Plus... your Awoken is an idiot for not knowing where the hell they even exist.
-
Yes, all hail the legendary story that is Destiny... oh wait.
-
My awoken asked what are the awoken in the campaign lol
-
Since when are we pre-Golden Age? I always assumed that we died during the Collapse and have found no evidence to either confirm or contradict this.
-
It doesn't say you died pre-collapse at all. It is possible you died during the collapse before the everything was destroyed
-
Yeh I feel like that with the armor and weapon switching between basically cloned characters. Just to raid 3 times instead of 1. I don't get that. The guardian you play is supposed to be unique. I dont't see how his gear isn't.
-
Just the fact that there are SO many different opinions in this thread as to what is what, is just more proof that Bungie did a really shitty job at story telling here.
-
It's probably why the Queen doesn't acknowledge you as an Awoken, even if you are one of her own, because in reality, you're not. It would be like the City Elves of Dragon Age, trying to be a part of the Dalish. They will never see eye to eye.
-
Umm, where do you find out your character died pre golden age? If the ex bungie employee AMA was real, this starting area was originally the start for exos only. Exos were created in the golden age. But, if you reject that, there is also the grimoire card about the awoken, that says they are unfriendly to earth born awoken. This means, your character could have died post-collapse in the cosmodrome. Because there are earth born awoken.
-
or when you go to the reef. "How did the awoken survive all the way out here?(Asked by your character, an awoken in my case)" "I dont know(reassuring dinklebot)"
-
So? Being any other race besides the Nord in Skyrim broke the lore.
-
to be fair (to other goof, not to bungie), the Awoken problem is not alone. There's numerous times in story that just simply did not make sense. Like a whole chapter was cut out. Example Misterious robot woman: do you know black garden? Dinklebot: yes we've heard the legend Player: we? we? what? i have not heard anything Dinklebot: a map of the whole area! let me download it. done. Player: where's the map? dinklebot? hello? O_O Mission objective: Slaughter the fallen Player: why? O_O

We start off wearing worn out plain looking armor. We probably died in a huge fight when everything went to shit as a new recruit. The traveler chose us for a reason, for our bravery in battle before or something along those lines.
-
Give me where it states in game or the Grimoire cards that your character died before the Traveller was discovered. The only mention of your death that I can remember is your Ghost saying you've been dead for a long time, which is a very broad term. By the start of the game the city has been standing for centuries: 'It took centuries to build.' - Ghost on first arrival at the Tower. Your character died sometime after the Traveller's last stand, which happened centuries ago. Most likely after construction on the City had started.
-
It doesn't break the game lore, cause, unfortunately, much like the rest of the story you have to go into the grimoire to understand everything. In the awoken grimoire card it describes how awoken who abandoned the reed to go to live and fight on earth will find no special treatment from awoken of the reef.
