TIMELINE:
Pre-GoldenAge, Traveler Discovery, Golden Age, Darkness Discovery, The Collapse, the after effects (Forming the Consensus, Building the City, ect.), Destiny I, The Future/Sequels.
Being an Awoken breaks the game. I know your attention span is about 10 minutes #Destiny, so I'll keep it brief.
In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery. This is implied and stated through quotes and the story (or lack thereof).
In game lore fact: The Awoken were created by the Collapse, after they tried to escape into space. This is stated by grimoire, promotions for the game, and many other things.
Rationalized Opinion: Your character, an Awoken who can channel the Travelers light, should not exist because the Awoken did not exist until after the Collapse. Think about it. Your character has to be "Pre-GoldenAge" and the Collapse does not occur until later down the timeline.
So, Bungie, you screwed up. Now what? We get it, Staten leaving leaves the story much to be desired. The one thing you should not do is ignore this.
Plz Leik, Folo, Rate, Subscribe, Reblog, Sacrifice to Satan, ect.
So, #Destiny, what do you think of this? Discuss.

Some guardians weren't born before the collapse. See: The guy the Last Word Grimoire cards revolve around. It could be possible that your guardian lived on earth after the collapse as an Awoken, then died just outside the Cosmodrome.
-
Not really. Your guardian could have probably died a half hour before your ghost found you. And maybe awoken came back to earth and mingled with the humans on Earth and they are the ancestors of our awoken characters.
-
Sources? And you're telling me we had exos before the traveller? What about them?
-
Exo for life!
-
I don't really see this being a thing.
-
*embarrassed to have just realized this*

Aattention span is 1 minute. Just long enough to start reading, stop, then post. Oooh, a squirel. Gotta go. Bye.

Started a new topic: even the human story makes no sense(7 Replies))
-
I was wondering why when I went to the reef they didn't welcome my awoken warlock like a homie
-
The story start is actually for exos. There were meant to be separate ones for human and awoken. this is based off of rumours
-
It's also a very weird experience being an Awoken an talking to the queen am I right? Makes you feel like you're not even part of their species..
-
So what you're saying is... The awoken are actually the vex and can move through time.
-
Isn't the like Titan dude in tower awoken? The commander of the tower or some shit

Edited by Celoxamortis: 10/20/2014 11:40:15 PM
In game lore fact: Your character died before the Traveler Discovery.
*Citation needed. I have played through the (lack of) story three times now and not a single time did it imply (nor did I infer from what I was told) that any of my guardians died in the Golden Age. Consider what we were told, however: The Golden Age lasted centuries and it's been centuries since the Collapse. Do you really believe you've been lying there, a preserved corpse, for a couple hundred years? No, it's far more likely that we are little more than constantly reanimated puppets of the Traveler. The issue with the Queen is just a prime example of a failure to pay attention to detail. While the art team did a fantastic job of paying attention to the small details of the world, the story telling team most certainly DID NOT. No snide comment by the Queen or her Brother about Earthborn Awoken. No real backstory about how the former colonists went through biological evolution to become these altered humans. No story about the Exos, not to mention the fact that they have the "human build" as everyone else AND why the hell do robots need to wear helmets? Edit: And while I'm on a details rant, the game starts "present day" and then we're led to believe we ushered in a new golden age... then how come the Cosmodrome looks like the Soviet Space Program of the 1960s, and Freehold Station on Mars looks like a Greyhound Station from 1955? Moving forward in reverse? What breaks the "lore" of the game is the fact that they didn't flesh it out well and they failed to pay attention to the details - small AND large - that matter in the grand scheme of things.

My favorite is when your Awoken literally says to your Ghost "What's an Awoken?" My mind just filled with disappointment. Not the first game to overlook little things like that (even if I think it's not really a little thing at all, but quite an important thing) and certainly not the last. But when an Awoken asks what an Awoken is, it's a bit frustrating. Reminds me of how Dragon Age had this whole thing going on about how blood mages were shunned, feared and hunted, but if your hero played as one, no one noticed at all.
-
Isn't that because the "story" we are presented with was originally designed for the Exo? Thought that was why the queen refers to everyone as an it. Still, it's pretty halfassed storytelling.

Edited by ExelArts: 11/15/2014 6:20:39 AMIn one video I do t know if anyone remembers but thunderlord was suppose to have exploding rounds and closing time which is now P&T was suppose to have cloaking(no scope glare either) and could shoot ammo and it would pick it up. Also anyone else get the feeling there was suppose to be a 4th species to are playable characters (maybe ones effected by the darkness)

I thought my awoken had died of boredom while being stuck in traffic... ...as with my exo... ...and the human as well. I think it is funny that all of our guardians died in a minivan outside the wall.
-
It's actually cuz they cut content and made all races start as the exo story start. The begining we play is supposed to be for the exo only but they cut out awoken and human stories
-
I always asked why were the humans that turned into Awoken fleeing Earth? If the traveler was the last hope from humanity why run away from it? It's my theory that The Awoken were fleeing from the Traveler and he kinda Halo-ringed them at the Asteroid belt. When our ghosts revive us some of us become affected by the same power and turn into Awoken.

Edited by swansong: 10/20/2014 10:47:08 PMit is already obvious as you go thru the story line with the queen. it treats protagnist (in my case and many others an awoken) as if human. its just illogical, proving that the story is reinvented
-
Lol sacrifice to satan
-
The game would have started with a different beginning for each race. The one we start with is the Human beginning. I dare to bet the Awoken beginning would start differently, where the Guardian wouldn't be revived at first but instead simply land or crash. Just a shame things like that are cut out
-
Awoken are people scared by darkness so while you were dead you corps was scared altering you
-
wat How do you know some awoken didn't come back to see the aftermath? They could have easily died when they came back. There was enough a time skip to be killed when investigating Earth, and brought back by the Ghost.
-
You also forgot when someone is a female warlock. There is no such thing a female warlock, the proper term is witch. Warlock is the male version of a witch. So basically anyone that creates a female warlock is a shemale.
