Today I read somewhere that Bungie is not happy where you team can not have defined roles when running the Vault of Glass. I hope that this is not the case because I would have to ask them why did they make three different character types whose skill trees provide different team support? I understand you want everyone to experience the same thing, but it should not be up to the game to decide. That is why you have fire team leaders. If there are people complaining about being stuck in a role in the vault of glass, they should complain to their fire team leader. If that fire team leader doesn't allow that person to hold the relic, then find a new fire team!
There is not a single MMO out there where a player is not categorized by the role they best fit. That is because in order to be successful in a raid, everyone needs to know what tasks they are responsible for. If you don't like your own raid because people who know how to coordinate and play their role can beat it in less than a half hour, then the lesson learned is that you should make the raid longer. Not just two bosses and three "mini-bosses".

I'm mixed on this because I'm generally the person that holds the relic during the Atheon fight. It would be nice if I wasn't always doing that...i also have probably the best leveled gear out of my crew I run with so it makes sense that I'd damage Atheon but because i'm clutch and solid with the relic thats just my role. It would be awesome of others could handle that part so I can damage the boss.

Also, I am getting very tired of the whole "become legend, but only the way we want you to do so" attitude from bungie. The game is meant to be played numerous ways and it just seems like they are chipping away so you can only run it "their way". If you want people to play the game entirely your way, make a single player closed world game like they did back in the 90's early 2000's. See how much money you make then.
