I'll preface this by saying yes, I completed the raid multiple times. I've only obtained one piece of raid gear during that time. There are thousands of others that have experienced this. Some have resorted to creating multiple characters of the same class, which is a legitimate option albeit not for most and definitely not mentioned in previews for this game.
I'm aware that raid gear is the only way to get to 30; however, because of the current RNG system, raid gear is utterly random and to attain 30 light is literally a crap shoot. Moreover, getting to 30 is ambiguous at best, the game does not make it clear that to get to 30, you must use raid gear / exotics. Players have to ascertain that through word of mouth, calculation, or researching on forums.
The easiest solution is to offset this problem by creating crucible fear at 30 light. This spoliation benefits both the community and Bungie by:
-adding armor variety as promised by previews
-preventing players from simply giving up on the rank
- encouraging more people to raid on higher levels, legitimately
-create tournament style armor in an event akin to Iron Banner, which would be beneficial by giving the game good press and word of mouth
-give more incentive to play crucible and reward people who put time in that mode
It is imperative that an alternate is added to 30 gear to increase the longevity of the game. Casino style rules are just too arbitrary to be relied upon and subvert the experience for many.
Before you comment remember:
- this is not a mmo
-multiplayer has always been a strength for Bungie
- Reaching 30 was an ambiguous affair
- the first 30 created 3 characters of the same class to game the system, which is needless grinding and subverts the game's overall experience
-This post is not advocating to hand out 30s; this post is advocating for some merit based system, where one can obtain this rank
- this ultimately matters because of damage and resistance multipliers that you get with rank. This is an issue.
-simply fixing the raid RNG still jeopardizes customization potions
