I'm willing to pay for the DLC. Honestly any other online game you have to pay a subscription or a pay to play perks. Bungie is using the latter to, yes get more money from us but dedicated servers require money and funding for upkeep. I'm happier with them doing it this way rather than a monthly subscription like WoW or even Final Fantasy Online. As much as people scream it's not an MMO, it does have the same strain on servers with 3.2 million logging in each and everyday. Would you rather pay the subscription fee of say $10 a month or $35 for two expansion packs? In the end it's cheaper for us the way it is.

  • If I were to sub on Destiny, there better be a warehouse load of perks missing for the base game and a monthly flair.

  • We pay for PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live to play the damn game properly so I'd think that counts as a subscription.

  • Does Playstation plus or Xbox live fund Bungie from their subscription fees??

  • Actually they probably do. Either way, I don't care. I wouldn't be playing it if I did have to pay extra, and I won't be paying anymore for this game either, despite it not having its own subscription. It should be an apology for all the lies we were fed. This game got a rating of 6 across the board and they have the balls to require us to pay $20 to finish the mediocre story? Nah, not happening. I'm only stating fact. If you want to pay $100 for a complete game, go ahead dude it's your life.

  • I doubt that it does due to the fact Bungie wouldn't have been the first console game to require a subscription if they went in that direction. Look I'm not a business major nor do I pretend to be. But I get the need to supplement money going into the servers one way or another. Perhaps Bungie would have had less complaining if they had gone the subscription route and gave the full story - mediocre or not. It would deter some but not all. However I will go the route and say if you're not happy there are more games out there to play. Bite the bullet and trade it in for one of those then.

  • Already put it down and started playing Borderlands. Don't think I'll be looking back now.

I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place if I had to keep paying to play it. I buy a game and that's it. I already pay for gold, I'm not going to pay anymore for this lackluster game. It was a rip off and I honestly want my money back but that won't happen so I believe they should fix their -blam!- up for free.

  • But you can't deny there are games out there that do this to upkeep their servers. Bungie isn't Sony or with Microsoft any longer they don't see the subscription fees those companies charge going to them. WoW and FF Online are examples of this. FF Online is console based so Destiny wouldn't be the first to do it.

  • While you are correct other games use subs/micro payments your point is completely invalidated by the simple fact that destiny was not sold to the consumer as such

  • I'm happy to pay for DLCs when they are add ons, what we are asking for is a DLC to fix the story it's very simple.

  • I understand that, however I just think they're using this way to augment charging monthly fees for server upkeep. If they released everything they would have had to charge monthly fees. I ask again which would you prefer?

  • Like I have said I am happy to buy DLCs that's not a question that has any point here. This isn't me against DLCs the is me against getting ripped off, when you buy a game with "Rich Cinematic Storytelling" written on the back that's what you should get. Bungie fix the story and give us a reason to buy DLCs and in sure most of us will, but until then I won't be and a lot of people agree. The debate on subscription isn't really anything to do with what I'm asking or anyone on here is asking.

Wouldn't we be still be having this debate though? Releasing DLC in supplement to monthly subscription will wind up the same story we are at now. Full story released with game. Next month $10 DLC pack, people finding the placeholders and crying it has been ready all this time and should have been included in game. It's a vicious circle. Look I get both sides of it. I want to see more but I also understand that running servers 24/7 is a money drain. If they didn't do things this way there's no way the game will last for the long haul.

  • Charging for DLCs is fair enough when they are add ons however charge for the game twice is not. Borderlands had great DLCs and charged and not one person complained. However they would have if the game finished when you reached sanctuary.
