Vault of Glass, Vangaurd Strikes, Crucible, they all have a finite amount that can be earned for a week. Why? If you have a party brave enough to go through the Vault of Glass multiple times, shouldn't you be rewarded? Shouldn't the chests have items in them for you? Same goes for the crucible and vangaurd strikes on the limit of marks you can earn (heck, I'd even throw Nightfall into this list).
In essence, I basically have a game telling me not to play it. If a fellow gaurdian needs help in the Vault of Glass, or Nightfall, but I've already done them, what incentive do I have to help them out? To devote 20 minutes to a few hours (depending on what they need help with) I have to turn them down because the game itself has already given me a restriction.
Already I find myself waiting until things reset on Tuesday. With a loot system that is based on luck, I'll wait until things reset so I can do missions/raids that have a greater guarantee on the things I need. Is this something you actually want players to do?

You have three character slots. Make duplicate ones of your character and raid 6 times a week. 3 on normal, 3 on hard. Do Nightfall 3 times a week. Earn marks for all of them. If you can do all of these things in a week you have way more free time than I do.
