DeeJ,
I have waited for destiny for a long time and had high hopes, but now you have proven to me that you have no idea what players want. This patch/suicide note, is absolute crap. I was a good little fanboy, I was willing to overlook the flaws in story line, gameplay, crap PvP, and mission design (yay protect dinglebot again while he performs a task that takes the storyline nowhere, I love this one!) I was even willing to overlook the insane bullet absorbing ability of every boss, and the fact that higher difficulty just meant adding oversheilds and even more damage absorbing powers, instead of a need for a new strategy. I was even willing to find 5 other players who had high levels, and enjoy dealing with frustrating glitches (oh look the portal didn't teleport me when I stepped through it again, guess that's a wipe guys, let's start over) and all because I wanted the best weapon in the game, you know a weapon that said "this guy went through days of the gaming equivalent to water boarding to get that, he earned it" so that you could nerf it by a third! Screw you bungie!
With great skill comes great reward, or now in this case with great skill comes the same stupid garbage that everyone else can find on the ground from a lvl one enemy! Do you understand nothing about what motivates gamers, and especially MMO gamers? We want that item that wails on people and does more damage than any other, because we earned it! The sense of accomplishment after doing the immposible and then having others recognize what you have achieved. It is the same reason we level in the first place, so that we can go back, find the mobs that killed us before and destroy them utterly, and in record time! (Btw you screwed that up as well, I shouldn't need to shoot a lvl 5 mob 4 times to kill them at level 29, they should explode, and peices of them should rain down on me as if its a blessing from some wrathful God. Also level 5 mobs should cower in fear of me, and hope that I do not turn my gaze upon them lest they are destroyed. What they shouldn't do is jump in my face like they did when I was a level 3) In short bungie, all of your weapons suck and need to do more to make us feel powerful in PvE when we reach endgame, they do not need to be nerfed, simply increase the ones you failed on.The enemies beneeth my lvl should act like it, they should act like we had to when we saw a level 25 and were only a lvl 10. (we ran away, fast, or were cut down with barely a wave of their hand, and we could do no damage to them.... at all......even with rockets!)
Bungie you have just turned a game that I was willing to forgive almost anything and justify its flaws to anyone....into my next trade in at gamestop. Once upon a time Xbox had a game called chromehounds and it was perfect for a year with a thriving online community, then they listened to the 10 year olds whining about it not being fair that people who worked for 400 hours had better gear than they did and could kill them, so they patched it to make it more fair to the newcommer who had invested no time and earned nothing, and the game died in under a month, please take this lesson to heart. As for myself and my clan, we want to stay and play for years but if you reward our loyalty and hard work (not to mention endless hours of raiding) with nerfing our loot, and ruining our clever strategies on raid we will go where we can get that feeling of accomplishment again, and you can pander to the casual gamers that are going to stop playing your game in 2 months regardless of what you do. Games where you level are meant to give advantages for leveling and games with Raids (MMOs) are supposed to have overpowered rewards for doing insane things on insane levels. Basically you have made the Raid even more difficult and reduced the reward for it, and taken away the aspect I liked most about the raid which was it forced players to be clever, to find ways to beat him that you did not intend (since you clearly intended for every boss to have the same strategy, dump enough ammo to cut the great prymids in half while avoiding getting shot and destroying the adds) let us face the truth, going from level 29 to level 30 is a tiny reward and it means shredding all the gear you bought or found for gear with very similiar stats and a slight defense bonus or worst case you end up with stats like "Increases shotgun ammo" when you hate shotguns and would rather use anything but that, to kill an enemy. If players whine about being killed in PvP too much by the Vex Mythoclast then here is a novel Idea... GO GET A MYTHOCLAST YOU IDIOT! The whole point in beating the overly difficult raid on 30 (soon to be almost immposible) is to improve.
This game just turned into a little league soccer game where "everyone is a special little snowflake, and nobody keeps score because no matter what you do we are all equal" So I am done excusing this game and may be done with it completly very soon. If this game had come out without the Bungie name behind it, it would currently have a score of 20/100 instead of 77/100 and you just took away all the incentive to play, by breaking any reason to participate in the ridiculously difficult endgame content. I beat level 30 Raid five times with the help of my very skilled clanmembers and can see no reason at all to beat it a sixth time. My disaspointment is only surpassed by your shame bungie. I hope you learn a lesson and spend more time fixing issues and creating new content (which of course you will then divide up and sell to us in ridiculously small increments) and stop destroying the few parts that already worked. Perhaps even try out a game that includes bosses more complicated than those found in "Contra" (bosses can absorb more damage and deal more damge with each level) and more mission depth than found in pong (defend stupidbot, and activate horde mode are not your only choices bungie, I promise). Right now you have held all of us hostage with the promise of great things in the future but crap in the present. When the Cryptach did that you said you took him to the woodshed, So take this as your trip to the woodshed and learn your lesson, if I wanted to play a game where everyone is equal and has the same gear I will go play call of duty. If you want me to spend years leveling up and "becoming legend" than reward me accordingly! You are Bungie, now act like it.
Edit: Some sort of response from Bungie would be greatly appreciated, so DeeJ if you read this drop us a line, I am sure everyone is more interested on what you have to say than they are in what I have said, I for one await your response eagerly, even if you just say "I read this" Thanks.
Edit: Day 3: Bungie, DeeJ, Your silence is becoming deafening.....

Once again no consideration to PVE when this patch was made. Instead of just counting the threads made about nerfing weapons and abilities, why don't Bungie read the comments and see how many people disagree? I don't think anyone in PVE was upset about how much the auto rifles or Vex Mythoclast did.
-
Agreed^. Deff last bungie/activison game i get. Destiny 2 is not being bought by me or there dlc
-
I agree 100% i feel this update will most likely bring the number of players down a'lot. I don't wish to see Destiny die. Nerfing the auto rifle and vex I feel isn't needed just release armor that can counter it and as for the Scout rifles buff them as needed same for others if the weapons where made to feel op leave them that way just make something better to combat it.
-
I agree I was working to get the vex but now bungie just made I so I don't even care to try to get it. -blam!- these stupid kids that complain because they haven't put the time in to get these weapon and -blam!- u bungie for entertaining them
-
Wow, you just nailed everything that I had concerns about. Nerfing a weapon that takes great skill and teamwork to acquire just because the youth cant get it. Then they cry and 'break' games due to lack of skill, not because it isnt 'fair'

This is getting so ridiculous, it's such an absurd thought to truly believe that because you went through a raid that took a few hours, not that insane, that you then get to ruin the game in pvp for thousands of other people. Everyone is complaining about the whiners but look what everyone with a vex mythoclast has become, the most annoying whiners ever because now they have to actually use skill in pvp to come out on top. You have no right to, because you "powered" through the grueling raid, which is a cool accomplishment to then ruin the game for everyone that payed the same price for the game. I do agree that with pve it should be very powerful and that is your prize, but the balance of pvp should be where it is now, thank god bungie listened to all the "whiners" or else everyone that has hours and hours to play and get that weapon would be able to mow down players with no skill needed, how do you truly believe that the game should allow that, I'm sorry if your not good at pvp but a cheapa** gun is not what the game needs, no matter how hard it is to obtain. The point of awesome loot is to have a slight edge, and an awesome look of that loot, not to break the game because the super high level players feel entitled to own in pvp with no skill at all, just because you have three level 30 characters does not entitle you to ruin the game for others and give no chance, you already have every perk and small bonuses you literally need that gun to be good?? Got get over yourselves and practice or something, definitely stop whining about whiners.

Well spoken and valid comment.
-
It's not an MMO.
-
I agree

I think the vex was a bit OP in PvP, considering the team that had one was often carried by one person. Maybe they went a bit overboard with the nerf, but something had to be done. If you want a balanced multiplayer, one weapon cannot completely dominate all others no matter how hard you prayed to RNGesus. Different weapons should be suited to different play styles, not just made so powerful that anyone can pick one up and be guaranteed total domination. The problem was that the vex had no drawbacks or disadvantages; unlike the shotgun (which has a short range) or the fusion rifle (which has a charge time and a fairly poor range). I'm sorry if you grinded out the raid, but that is no excuse to further decimate an already unbalanced PvP experience.
-
Next bunging update *players will now shoot real NERF Gun bullets with the rare chance of getting a BB gun if you complete this pointless mission which makes no sense*
-
Agreed!!! Bungie should not mess with end game content its hard to get so it should be more powerful than normal weapons and normal armour! For all the people that want to complain and say it's over powered blah blah blah but I do not have the content, well easy go work for it like everyone else.
-
You hit that right on the money. Bungie screwed us on this patch. What's the point of grinding for hours to get something cool only to have that taken away from you.
-
Edited by Kovathos: 10/14/2014 2:35:35 PMSo long as they continue to balance the entire game for pvp, you will never feel like the higher level gear is that much more powerful in pve. Hell, as it is, they already even out gear on all enemies you fight similar to crucible... This game is just so full of fail... Bungie, if you survive this, let this be a lesson to you to NEVER do this shit again. The only way this game will do well at this point is if there's enough morons out there that blindly throw money at this completely mediocre game in every aspect of it. I haven't played it for over a week now and I couldn't care less anymore. I'm curious to log on and see how they -blam!-ed things over in pve and what they did to the rocket yard though that didn't deserve any change at all since loot cave 2.0 was not any better than running around killing things.
-
As this topic stated; if you are making levels for this game there should be a difference in the pvp. Im not saying you can't have it balanced but there should be option (what iron banner should have been) but you couldn't even do that...
-
Bumping this thread like there is no tomorrow. This level of brainpower on the Bungie forums is hard to come by, very valid point have been made here. In the very least they could have at least tried not to screw over those of us who prefer PvE to PvP, but of course applying the patch to PvP alone would just be too much effort.
-
Keep this on the top! I'm with you 100%. Bungie seems to be all over the damn place lately. Legends should be legends. This really is bush league.
-
Bravo! You are a very creative writer! I agree with your sentiments.

Edited by TitanGear: 10/14/2014 2:53:20 PMI don't even have the Mythoclast and I get creamed by it in PVP all the time. Bungie must be sniffing some marker fumes if its gonna nerf an Exotic on one day and then say they are gonna buff Exotics the next. Bungie needs to realize the whiners will NEVER stop. Warcraft was great in the beginning when not many people played cause of the difficulty, but then they wanted to keep the children playing so they made everything cookie cutter and nerfed the hell out of every class because of casual babies and the kids still complained if their character got -blam!- by another. If you're melee offreakingcourse you're gonna get ROFLStomped by a ranged. DUH. And to ppl who are saying yeah you only got it cause of RNG. You do realize they where there on HARD mode with everyone else fighting the boss ya? They earned it, they deserve to bring it to PVP and make the enemies cry and their teammates follow them into glorious battle. Bungie needs to focus on their main demographic and not the children who want everything silver-plattered so they can get closure in a game they don't understand so they can go back to Hello Kitty Adventure Island. -_- Edit: Then again they do the same thing in movies. Star Wars was amazing till George Lucas made all the droids cute whilst killing people and Vader a child with no personality. T_T

The problem is that their goals for balanced pvp and decent pve are in direct opposition to each other. PVP should have both a balanced Arena (Crucible) and a Straight up as it is Arena (Iron Banner) - It fails at both. The combat math is so messed up that nothing makes any sence. Personally I think (for crucible) any single round weapon (or shotgun) should be a one hit kill and burst weapons should be a one burst kill (in both cases provided the shot is to the head). The most fun pvp ever was Marathon when most weapons could one shot us, it was pure joy and adrenaline. This game is 90% frustration. PVE needs to reward higher levels. It does the exact opposite. Enemies we should just frakkin wail on get super powered dodge skills as WE get higher level, and start running away and hiding. If anything the game was easier by far when we just got here. The most fun boss was the first frakkin archon we fought!!! As it is level and gear mean NOTHING when it come to PVE advantage. Bigger bosses don't mean anything when it comes to drops. Reward system - what reward system. Hell there are like 4 or 5 cool cloaks for hunters and the rest look like shit! There should be 1000 cloaks, it's just a frakkin skin!!!! There should be 1000 shaders too!!! Every single game mechanic seems designed to drag the game out and make everything take forever, as though that would fool us into thinking there was more content. All of this is super annoying because grinding for better gear is ALL THIS GAME HAS TO OFFER.
-
I don't even have the Vex Mythoclast, but I'm pissed at this patch because it shows that Bungie's priorities are f***ing RNG, just like their goddamn effort vs reward mechanic. Instead of fixing things are broke, they are concentrating on PVP balance? There are a whole slew of, what I would classify as "critical" areas of the game that need to be addressed. Things that are obviously "broken". Things that need to be fixed/addressed or they will start losing players (actually, they allready have started to lose players...). But instead of this, they "hotfix" for PVP? And even then, their "fixes" display a complete lack of understanding of their own game. My raid group can clear to Atheon without a single death, but we routinely wipe on Atheon because: 1.) The closest person gets teleported into the time gate 2.) The closest, the person that jumped and the furthest person get teleported into the time gate. 3.) When leaving the time gates you get placed on the wrong side and killed by Atheon/Harpies. 4.) When leaving the time gate you get placed at the wrong time gate and killed by Atheon/Harpies.. 5.) When leaving the time gate, you don't actually leave and are stuck. Beating Atheon (for us), isn't a matter of executing the mechanics of the fight properly, but recovering as quickly as possible after the encounter bugs out, and hoping it only glitches once. The reward for effort / time invested / risk is another big issue that affects every aspect of the game. The "Loot Caves" were an issue because it was the most direct "Effort vs Reward" payout in the game and was (oddly) one of the most social aspects of the game. Right now, the only "Rewards" in the game are gained via a random number generator, with the exception of 5 exotic bounties. But even those exotic bounties are gained via a RNG. (Oddly enough, I've gotten the same 3 bounties offered 13 times now...) What exactly is going to keep players playing the game if the only way to progress through the content past a certain point requires us to acquire gear, if the only way to acquire said gear is through complete randomness? But no. It's more important that Bungie Hotfixes PVP by nerfing the f*** out of PVE gear. Even the nerfs display a complete lack of understanding of their own game. Thanks to the Iron Banner (that isn't what it says it is, lol normalization...) I've been encountering players with the Vex Mythoclast a lot. It sucks getting 4-shot by by someone with the vex and dying. But really, with few exceptions (scout rifles?) Time-To-Kill is about on par with all of the primary weapons save the Universal Remote. Incidentally the Suros Regime when ADS does comparable damage to the Mythoclast; the difference is the rate of fire (and magazine size...).

Edited by wrath0ftheg0ds: 10/14/2014 4:03:55 AMBungie I am dumbfounded and awestruck at your new "patch" maybe if you fixed the real issues like game drops or The portals not teleporting us, I would feel a little better about it. But no instead I now have absolutely no reason to even attempt a lvl 30 raid!! The mythoclast is the reward for the raid for a reason, remember? To show that you did it and you definitely earned the weapon. But no, now you nerfed it so I have no reason to continue raiding. In fact now I have no reason to play destiny because all I can do now that I'm a high level is play the raid to prove my skill! Why would I want to do that if I'm gunna get a gun that doesn't help me at all feel special? People play these games to prove they can beat your challenges and now you have made it just like the strikes where you unload all your ammo just to start over! I think you really ought to reconsider your newest "patch" that completely ruined the game. In fact right after reading the new patch at least 3 clan members left bungies world to play games that actually reward our time.
-
I agree 100% this is just being blunt and honest and everyone needs to quit sugar coating this blunder Bungie is pulling.
-
Thank you for this post! I feel the same way.... Exactly!

This is what happens when companies get too big and mighty. They start to not care about who made them what they are.
