I've posted about this before but here is my proposal for a new large scale PVE event.
World bosses would be excellent. They would be a fun twist on public events. A different enemy to take down rather than defending a crashed satalite like usual.
Another great event would be a living battlefield where players have to ban together to capture control n points to capture territory held by some enemy force, like the fallen for example. Make it a large scale attack force that would be overwhelming for anyone on their own but can be done with a large group. And make the outcome of the event matter! At the end of say 2 weeks if we have captured all control points and held them against the darkness then some small set of content is open to the community for a period after the conclusion.
That or it could be a way for the community to unlock limited time high level content like a special strike that rewards unique gear. Then at the end of the event we need to refocus our resources. We have gotten wjat we came for, and let the darkness reclaim the land, making restarting the event make some sense, so it can be repeated.
Make it exist on a patrol type mission selection, but the missions in that patrol zone are all focused on the war effort there, so it can give mission design some focus and theme, which is pne of the big complaints about current patrol missions.

This sounds fantastic and is exactly what Destiny is missing. Perhaps a buff on that planet or region when successfully held? Perhaps it opens trade routes for xur, one extra item for sale that week? Perhaps opens up a good loot farming area? Incentives are endless.
