I think that by Attaching Levels, Or Light in this case, to gear is a mistake for many reasons and is a weird way for bungie to have decided to do things with end game leveling, or whatever it is theyre trying to do. This makes it a very strange way to gain levels to begin with and not only that, but it makes virtually all other sets of gear worthless except for the gear that makes you max level.
So id you have a set of gear that your really like, you will not be able to use it as you will drop in levels and their is not transmog type of system in this game.
And it forces you to opt out of maybe some of the gear you wanna use, just because another piece has more light, When you may like the perks, look, or stats of another piece that has less light.
This also makes it so when you release new gear, that allows us to go beyond level 30, will the current legendaries go down in tier? since they will then be no longer good, if they are 20 levels below the new "light" cap.
I just dont know if it was the best way to do things.
I do love the game though.
What do you guys think?

I think it's fine. It is no different than item levels in games like wow and other mmorpgs that allow you take on harder content. However, I think they should get rid of the aspect of leveling up gear in general and instead they should just have the perks on them like more ammo for x gun or whatever random perks are on gear. These should just be locked via materials like they are now, but more like enchants on your gear. From here, make it so the higher level gear just drops from higher level content. So doing level 24 strikes would award level 25 gear, use tokens to buy level 28 gear, level 28 strikes would drop 29 gear and hard mode vog would drop level 30 gear. Doing this would incentivize people into doing the harder level content and always have a reason to do them.
