They were rushed to a deadline. If you go digging a bit you will find out a lot had to be cut out due to activision. Since bungie has been working on destiny as a little side project since the original halo. Then they went to make it a full game but activision made a deadline therefore cutting a lot out of the game. So with all they had planned I bet they will add a lot more in the future. But we'll most likely have to pay for it...
