The PVE part of the game is fine, I really enjoy it, even though it has it's issues at times. But it is the PVP side of this game that really started to make me hate this game. Now, I want to start off by saying that I don't want PVP gone because I suck at it. I generally do alright. My problems with PVP come almost entirely rooted in how broken it is. I don't mean there are a couple of minor things that are wrong, that wouldn't frustrate me enough to pull my dinosaur laptop out and let it boot up for 7 minutes with while I deal with countless errors. I mean that PVP in Destiny is so broken I long for the atrocity that is Call of Duty Ghosts.
Let's get the nice glaring ones out of the way first. Hunters. Seriously, Bungie? Who gave the go-ahead to put, essentially, God Mode, in a player versus player mode? Because that guy needs to get fired. Sure Titans and Warlocks can be a bit broken, I don't see them wipe 5 people at once regularly. I have killed Titans and Warlocks when they use their specials, I probably die doing so, but at least I get the kill. Hunters? Not a damn chance. When 5-6 people are all shooting at a single Hunter, who bounces around stabbing people like a Call of Duty wet dream, and not killing the him, you have a problem. I've hit them with primaries, specials, heavies, legendaries and exotics, grenades nothing I have kills them. My Fist of Havok doesn't do a damn thing. I almost want to make a Hunter for the sole purpose of going into the Crucible and getting BS free kills, but my self-respect isn't so low that I need to resort to such means for kills. I would apologize if this seems a little like I'm attacking the Hunters of the game, but honestly, I won't. As far as I'm concerned they sit in the back of the map and snipe or hide around the corner with a shotgun or fusion rifle until they can turn into a speed addled Micheal Myers and go stab happy. PVP shouldn't be about super abilities, it should be about the guns and the skill.
The second thing you need to change is the one that everyone keeps bringing up, the loot. I was trying to level up a different character today by doing bounties, and I happened to be doing crucible ones. I was in the top three using all white weapons. The dude at the bottom of the team who had a KD of like 0.7 ended up getting a Universal Remote. That's awesome. Oh, what did I get? I got a nice shiny nothing. How, how, how does this happen? Why should somebody who gets one or two kills and then dances in the middle of the map, IF they even get those kills, get any gear, while those of us that are trying to get the W for our team get air for our troubles? Come up with a viable system to give out loot. For instance, the top two from each team get at least two items guaranteed, 3 and 4 get at least one (but not more than the top two), 5 and 6 have a chance to get something. That would be fair and, I think, would make people happy. Because as it stands, there is no incentive for trying.
Third, melee attacks. Got no problem with them being in the game, even the super melee. The only real problem is that people use fists as their primary source of damage too often, when it should be more of a last resort. You ran out of bullets in your mag, and don't have time to switch weapons, you should punch. I'm not trying to tell people how to play their game, but if you want to go around punching things, it shouldn't routinely beat guns, you know, those things that get little bits of metal going really really fast.
I could easily go on, but I'm exhausted, and I'd like to go pass out. That said, PVP in this game is so terrible, that it should really be removed from the game until it is properly fixed. I'd like Crucible to be fun, but it just isn't. You get screwed if you are anything other than a Hunter. If you happen to do good you don't get anything for it. Please just pull it until it isn't a joke.

I would've preferred a separated game mode for PvP like most fps games do. Use the campaign mode to get better weapon unlocks in PvP (or just unlock via points or ranking up in PvP) and leave certain guns unavailable like the Vex so you could still have a ridiculously OP gun in PvE without people crying for more balance. Also, matchmaking with PvP ranks would've been another way to stop all the tears on the forums.

Shotgun+melee kills blade dancer every time, golden gun is much more op.
-
Nah, it's the best pvp I've played. It's got lag problems on ps3 out the ass, but it's made me completely uninterested in cod.
-
Sorry you suck, hope you get better.
-
hunters are not gods, I run blade dancer every time I go into crucible and I do get killed sometimes, I don't sit at the back of the map and snipe or camp in corner and wait for players to wander past because this isn't COD ya know. shotguns and fusion rifles are good for 1v1 but if there are more than 3 enemies your screwed, I barely knife players and invisibility is as useful as a glass hammer. also how can you criticise hunters if you never played as one? oh but if you did then you would say that titans and warlocks are op -_-

How to kill a Bladedancer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_D_SgApAJEM

It is one of the most hilarious things about the pvp genre that a punch or a knife consistently does more damage in every FPS game than a bullet from a .50 handgun. They're all the same in that regard.
-
I feel your frustration. Along with their major server issues its annoying to play pvp at all. But they could easily remedy a lot of the problems with some simple additions. Most of the maps are very small and favour CQB attacks like supers and melee. Adding new larger scale maps would at least mean those that are solely dependent on those skills wouldn't dominate every match. Another simple addition would be adding multiple playlists, such as a no supers playlist. Even limited time playlists like snipers only would be cool and would change up the monotony that's currently present in the game.

Edited by Scrotimere: 12/16/2014 6:10:45 PMI can get behind this, PVP is broken for me because of this "Target Acquisition" garbage that is basically auto aim for dummies. I tell you what, nothing pisses me off more than MY cross hairs going out of MY control because Bungie thinks they are smart and helping me do work. Wrong, target acquisition should be completely taken out of PVP arena or I will never go back in. No point in playing PVP if I don't even get to aim my own gun where it needs to be.

If you don't like pvp then don't play pvp.

Edited by TwoSizesTooSmall: 10/15/2014 12:30:52 AM1. If you see a hunter with his super active...just run. I've seen hunters look impenetrable with it active, and I've seen them go down hard with it active. Depends on what weapon you're trying to take him down with. 2. I'm fine with the loot system it has. Granted, I've seen people that have been the absolute worst in the match get a legendary more often than guys who did amazing...but you get yours if you play it enough, so I mark that as a bit coincidental. Even though I would like that if you finished in the top 3 or something, that you'd be rewarded with a higher chance for an item. 3. I'm a Titan Striker practically all the time, and I use punching as a last resort pretty much always. It sounds like you ARE trying to tell people how to play the game, cause the gunfight is where you'll win it. In close quarters, sometimes it's just easier to react with a fisting rather than switching to a shotgun. I do think the warlock can punch just a little too far sometimes though.

no get out huters are fine

There would be no destiny without the crucible. Maybe the destiny that was shown and talked by bungie doesn't need the crucible, but this version of destiny most definitely does. Have fun playing the same missions and strikes and raid over and over again with the exact same enemy locations and strategy.
-
I agree with the statement that this version of destiny needs crucible. But the destiny we were promised would have been able to stand on its own. 34% is a high enough number that Bungie should pay attention and figure out that ppl want them to focus on PvE. Why are the rarest ships identical except for the paint job? Why does a balancing issue in pvp affect the PvE aspect of the game? Why is the great potential for a story locked in the grimoire and NOT in the game itself?

Edited by LimitTester: 10/15/2014 8:48:53 PMBungie, please do the opposite. Please remove pve from the game completely until it is fixed. There's too many ceddar cheese blocks over there and only thing worth doing right now is ofc, the crucible. We keep getting our guns nerfed because of cheesy pve scrubs, but that's ok cause it affects pve as well, how it should be. But really, no point in doing pve at all so might as well remove it and let them play crucible, where we can shoot them to death with A nerfed Shingen-C or Galahad-E for that matter.

Troll post... successful.

Edited by distressx99: 10/15/2014 12:05:12 AMWhat's up OP, I read what you said and reading the comments below it seems that everyone that read this felt they needed to bash everything you said. But, I get you. Everyone says that every other character type has an op move and it's true (in a way). FoH is a lethal asset if your stuck in a corner or jumping in the midst of a group in a control game. *SmAsH* everyone's dead. Same for the warlock, that nova bomb will end mostly anything it's anywhere close to, and linger to tax that ass for a few moments afterward. Hell I even heard it's capable of taking down a defenders bubble shield. This is the way that they made these characters almost entirely for PVP. That being said. Blade dancer is literally an unstoppable force of nature. I mean nowadays the only way I can make any sense to why the blade dancer has the ability to shrug off everything you throw at it is that it has some kind of shield to protect from damage. If this isn't true then we are all getting bent over and taken advantage of. How else could it be explained how a hunter arc blading around could survive a golden gun bullet to the melon. To be honest the only way I see your problem being fixed is to outsmart them. Run, grenade, flail, and scream until their arc blading selves are standing there with nothing but a thumb up that ass. There is nothing else to do. But its almost the same for all of the classes. I mean nova bomb hits you in the face, Screwed. FoH right in your mouth, Screwed. Just have to get more artful. The item distribution I heartily agree with, the person that sucks should get served up a hot helping of more suck and nothing. Finally, on the note of melee attacks. Come on bro, YOU ARE A TITAN. You are a titan and your telling me that you don't like to just punch people right in the face with your electroshock therapy fist of justice and boobs? That is like your primary objective man. Hunters and warlocks do have a teleport factor to them I know. But that should not stop you from going out and beating people senseless. I feel to melee someone in the game to the point that you actually get the upper hand is impressive. Especially with all the shotty toting douchefaces in this game. I mean that's like picking up any type of FPS and telling me that you think it takes no skill to melee someone. I mean CoD half the game I would run into melee happy freaks with tac knives and just get my whole world cut into ribbons. Until I sniped their faces off when they weren't lookin. XD Bottom line is. Adaptability. There is always going to be one thing or another in PVP in general that everyone is pissed off about. Play the game and adapt and make everyone abusing the cheat behind it curl up in a ball in the shower and rock themselves into their happy places because you made their trick something that is annoying and mediocre into something that is just a mild annoyance with your flying metal things and a bucketful of tactics. This is coming from a proud hunter, who enjoys using the bladedancer, but doesn't because the golden gun is more classy ;)

Edited by RAC198: 10/14/2014 11:45:37 PMI disagree with some of this. The gift system isnt great, never been a fan of RNG loot tables...but they have their places. They should replace it with a progress bar similar to motes of light, but for PvP rewards. Hunters are not God Mode. Im not a big PvP player, but I see more mass kills from Titans and Warlocks when I do play. Ive dodged the Golden Gun and escaped the Arc Blade before. Nova Bomb and Fist of Havock though, I know Im pretty dead. On a larger note, removing a full section of content is not a well thought out plan. There are entire player bases who only do PvP, which if removed would make them leave and further hurt Bungies DLC sales. Fixing it while still broken is sadly their best option, people can still play it if they want and over time it "should" improve. It would be like removing Strikes and the VoG for their issues. It would cause everyone to only have Story Missions or Patrols, and would have probably the same theoretical result. Variety is the spice of life, even if some people don't care for the taste there are plenty that do. Edit: Spelling/Grammar

The nerf today was only the beginning. Just wait till subclass balancing kicks in. Then people will REALLY lose their head!
-
I'm a Warlock, and Titans frustrate me more than Hunters by a long shot. At least Hunters have to DO something to get kills. Your FoH is a straight up panic button. "Oh God, 3 people running at me from all directions?!?! What now!!?! Oh yeah!!!! FoH!!" Good job kid. You just made yourself look like a baby back bitch. Stop complaining cause you suck Hunter blade dick. Grow a pair of your own you sad -blam!-.
-
If you pull pvp out of the game theres nothing to do until DLC stupid! Your an idiot, i made a lvl 25 Titan in a week. There's nothing to do plus i have a lvl 27 almost 28 warlock. Too easy and short of a campaign until you get to the hard lvl replays of the same campaign which is boring!
-
Oh you hate so cut it out of the game
-
You really need to make a hunter so you can see they are no where near as powerful as you make them out to be. As hunter, with both subclasses maxed, I die more often then you think in blade dancer mode, from heavy machine guns/rockets to FoH/void bombs or groups of people using primary and special weapons. It must be that your just not very good at aiming.
-
I stopped reading your BS after your rant on hunters. I'm a lvl 29 hunter and I get killed regularly while using my super. More often then not I get one maybe two kills. On the reverse end, I have taken down many a blade dancer with 2 well placed shotgun rounds at close range before they get a single kill. And numerous time at a distance with a scout rifle. There's nothing wrong with the blade dancer super or the hunter in general in pvp. You just suck and are being a whiny little brat about it.
-
Here's a thought, don't play it.
-
Whaaa!! Hunters are OP.. nerf them or remove them.. Whaaa!!! I cant get things a fast as I think I should.. Whaaa!!! You do realize that pvp rewards are bonu's the real reward is the faction rep and marks not the items themselves. Whaaa!! people puch me too much and kille me.. they dont shoot at me like I think they should instead!!!! That is the sort version of this post....
