Sounds like Rasputin only cares about its own survival and may be plotting to be a challenger to the Darkness, not a help to mankind.

No he sacrificed most of mankind on order to stop it, which if he didn't we probably would have been wiped out. He's a not human so he doesn't get that it's wrong to do that and plus the darkness twisted him, he was basically scared of the darkness and scared he couldn't save us.

I mean moving forward. I would not be surprised if Rasputin ends up as a major antagonist.

He could, but he would only be for filling his mission most likely. He might create his own army, or hack some of the vex, if possible...he would be the only one to do it.
