Strange Coins VS. Exotic Luck
You say you "earned" your exotic pixels because some random enemy just so happen to fumble it when owned them with your badassness...One time..... I say you won the random lottery that is RNG... The only people "earning" exotics are the people who play countless missions until they've gotten lucky enough to collect RNG strange coins... One exotic=1 drop. 17 strange coins=Only God knows how many drops... You can't earn 17 strange coins in one mission. However, an exotic drop may occur during your first mission... Now tell me who's earning the exotics? The lucky guy who gets the exotic after beating one mission, (that he probably piggy backed with better to win) Or the guys who's playing enough to stack his coins to purchase an exotic. Again, exotic drop=1 mission. 17 strange coins=a minimum of 17 missions...

6 Repliesthen there are these weekly missions that give 27 coins across 3 characters. that takes only 3 runs and less then 30 mins... takes no work or effort. exotics are never earned by anyone. its all given to us for free by bungie.

I've gotten the Red Death twice from 2 legendary engrams that i received from 2 daily heroic story end rewards, in a row. Everything's completely random. If you want a way to determine drop rates get about 600 dice and roll them all, to determine every factor of the drop. For Xûr, roll a die for every exotic in the game, (currently & excluding bounty weapons) and then add 20 more for classes of weapons and character classes of armor (considering the armor is of one type for all three classes of characters {all arms, legs, etc}) Or just hail RNGesus and The flying Spaghetti Monster for luck in your toils.

(Random numbers generator) it's the same system most lotteries use.... Would you say the lottery is unfair? No. But if you're dirt poor and get lucky you won* the lottery and get a Bentley... But what about the people who earn millions of dollars through hard work and buy Bentley with there own money? Do see them trying I say lottery winners didn't "earn that car so they don't deserve it? Or vise versa? No...

2 RepliesOkay here is how I rank earning in this game. Earning: Going through plenty of missions to harvest strange coins via heroics and nightfalls etc. Then exotic bounties. Semi Earning: Doing the nightfall and raid to increase your chance to get exotics. Luck: Getting a exotic from a lucky drop in crucible (unless you did really well) , getting it in a vanguard strike (unless you do extremely well) and getting luck from a legendary engram.

Your odds of getting a random exotic drop at all are pretty low. The odds of you earning strange coins for missions can be 100%. Theortically, I could buy an exotic by playing just a couple of nightfalls. Comparatively, most people have played probably close to, if not more than a hundred missions and have to rely entirely on luck to get an exotic via drop. I'm really not sure what your argument is here, that an infinitesimal amount of players get a lucky drop? Come on, buddy, that's how these games work. It's a game where sometimes grinding pays off more than "earning."

I burned 30 calories moving my thumbs and index fingers for all 6 of my exotics... Was excruciating... Had to push the buttons so hard to make hawkmoon drop

4 RepliesGet bent. You can find strange coins all over the place. You get them out of chests, from blue engrams that drop like candy, mission rewards, strike rewards, nightfall rewards, crucible rewards, public event rewards, and probably from the raid too. In a game that is all about RNG, either way you still get the reward only your story is different. Omg I'm crying because I had to find ALMOST 20 STRANGE COINS!

I have a love/hate relationship with rng, I hate it when I lead the team and the loser gets armor and engrams and I don't get anything, but then I have also been that loser and got awesome weapons and armor. But If I had to choose, I would rather go with more kills/better rewards instead of rng.

Raiders.... You did it. You deserve it. But just because you raid and other don't, doesn't mean they don't deserve it too. If you've played enough to acquire the required amount of strange coins to purchase an exotic that means you deserve it. "You've raided for hours!" -We know.... Your strange coiners have played for hours as well... Weekly heroic, nightfall, and RNG engrams.... Remember how happy you were you when you finally "earned" your lucky RNG drop? Well.... Some players aren't so lucky but that doesn't mean they deserve to get the shaft. (We all paid the same amount...) so so their shit luck is compensated by strange coins....[/quote]
