It's a team based event. If you form a bad team or allow to be randomly placed on a bad team then why do you expect to get rewarded. You still get Crucible rep/marks and a chance at loot. You just don't get Iron Banner rep.
This is not an event where everyone gets participation points. It's the Iron Banner! If you spent more time trying to make friends to go into the Iron Banner instead of complaining you might be rank 2-3 by now.

Oh and another thing I said. When you try to talk to rando's most of the time, they don't respond back. Can't make friends when everyone doesn't want to talk. Idk if you just annoy the shit out of people until they actually start talking to you or what.. Professional sports players, win or lose, still make at least a couple hundred thousand for playing the game they are supposed to be playing. They don't get cookies for doing their best instead of getting money. They still get money. Same shit, different game.
-
And just so you get this straight, I did say that if I wanted crucible rep and marks, I'd just play the crucible. Not the iron banner. You gotta remember not everyone can play whenever with a whole fireteam of friends like you.. since you have sooooo many friends apparently
-
If it's a team based event then why add matchmaking in there? And why not add in the minimum 5 rep gained towards the IB to give an incentive for rando's who don't have friends they can play with at ANY time of the day like you can apparently to keep playing IB instead of leaving the match as soon as their team just starts losing
-
Again it's the Iron Banner it is a team based skill event. Even with 1-2 friends and a couple of randoms it is definitely possible to win matches. We did it last night for a couple of hours. When you do matchmaking then every match you get stuck with different people there is no consistency. They probably should have disabled matchmaking all together but I bet people would have complained about that too. If you want Iron Banner rep then form a fireteam and work for it. It's not hard. I want the Iron Banner gear to mean something. When I see people wearing it that shows that they are skilled at PVP. If anyone could earn the rep by sitting afk and losing the matches then the gear is worthless. If everyone can easily get it then it is no longer special. Why don't you create a post on the forum looking for people to go into the Iron Banner. Put down ahead of time what hours you will be available to play form a fireteam with those people, then play Iron Banner with a competent team.

Edited by DuzzTrix: 10/9/2014 9:32:05 PMAlso, how is getting 5 rep for losing making it "easy" for anyone to get the gear? Hence why I said the top 1 or 2 players on the losing team get it. Not everyone on the losing team.
-
You're missing the whole idea behind the Iron Banner. Maybe Bungie will do another event and call it the Velvet Banner or something and everyone can get rep just for showing up. There will be other events. Other events will be all inclusive and allow everyone to easily get everything they want. Queen's wrath was one of those. There is one event so far in Destiny that is not all inclusive and that is Iron Banner. Is it okay for Bungie to make one event that is a team based skill event? Let the hardcore players have one event.

Edited by phaseadept: 10/10/2014 1:48:16 AMHonestly, you'd have a point if the IB gear had the ability to get 30 light
-
Raid gear is the only way to get 30 light. It's not about getting max level with the gear. It's about getting exclusive gear. Only people that work their butt off and are skilled will get the Iron Banner gear.
-
Honestly, if you have the raid gear it's a waste of shards. If shard it long before I'd upgrade or wear it just because I can't maintain level 30 wearing it. Would much rather save shards for the next set of raid gear to be released.
-
I don't think it will be shardable a la Queen's wrath gear was not. If Destiny adds a vanity feature though in the future it would definitely be nice to have.
-
Sure, nice for vanity, however I'm struggling with grinding hours in the crucible for vanity purposes. Really, they should have light level 30 armor with crucible specific bonuses for the pinnacle of PvP.
-
It's optional you don't have to do it.
-
Edited by phaseadept: 10/10/2014 4:56:26 AMOf course it's optional, doesn't mean I cant advocate for better quality gear for those who prefer PvP

Edited by phaseadept: 10/10/2014 3:41:51 AM"Honestly" *chuckle*
-
Honestly, do you start out all of your posts with Honestly?
-
What's 5 rep to the top 2 on the losing team compared to the 30+ you get for winning? Nothing but an incentive to keep playing which is all I'm trying to get at.
-
Edited by DuzzTrix: 10/9/2014 9:45:46 PMI'm not missing the point on IB. You're missing the point I'm trying to make. So the way you see it is "I have friends I can play with anytime I want. I got to rank 3 the first day IB came out. Why can't everyone just be like me ?" 1st, no.. stop. 2nd, you sound like people who get an exotic through sheer luck and then xur comes around the corner selling the same exotic and you're complaining that anyone can buy the exotic that you feel you earned through whatever you want to call it.
-
I'm currently at rank 1. I tried going into Iron Banner solo and it doesn't work. I then made a new friend and joined Iron Banner as a fireteam. We started winning. I'm just trying to tell you how you can get rep. If you don't want to take my advice then don't. Don't expect Bungie to make it easier though for you for this event. I could care less about Xur selling exotics. If someone sucks at PVP and they have an exotic it's not going to make them a better player.
-
No trust me, I know that being in a fireteam is a huge advantage over a group of rando's. What I don't think you get though is even if you join up with another person or 2 which is what I try to do most of the time (definitely doesn't work out that way at all), you still have people who leave your team, leaving you with a man or more down from the other team.
-
Leaving it up to a forum post to form a fireteam of possibly very unreliable people who more than likely wouldn't even show up in the time given, and on top of that idk how they play so they could suck for all I know and we keep losing. Yeah that sounds like a great idea. Why is it so hard for you to think giving the top 1 or 2 people on the losing team 5 rep towards the IB is a decent idea?

Voice chat in Iron Banner is a HUGE advantage. You can call out strategies to team mates. You can warn them not to run into a room that has an enemy using their super. You can use flanking strategies. In the forums you can look at their Crucible stats and see if they are any good. It would be making some effort instead of just hoping RNG is in your favor for matchmaking.
