You obviously don't know much about coding. A 6.9Mb data file can contain a lot of functionality etc. Now to other points, DLC on the disk we bought. Well that's not new is it? That's been happening for a few years now, but it's not necessarily the whole DLC. When designing any game or program, you're not just designing version 1 you're also putting together future features, game play and story etc. For Destiny, DLC and Destiny 2 and 3 falls in to that category. - Is any art work need for the DLC done? I'd say yes and that's on the disk. - As for the mission place holders, do they know what missions there will be? Of course, that was part of the design phase, so they would be on disk. - Any voice work for story, sure that would probably be on disk as well. Because of the design phase of programming, it enables developers to put much of the content needed for DLC on the disk. Surely it's much better to download the final nuts and bolts of the DLC than something like a 200mb file of stuff that was ready. As a software developer I'm constantly writing new features that are in the release build of the product, but not accessible until other things are finished. It much easier and logical to put what you can in the major release and then do the minor releases after than it is to do a multitude of major releases.

  • In other words, it's the difference between patch vs. revision Update vs. build?

  • Maybe they should have spent more time working on the release of this sh!tty game and less time worrying about DLC. There may not be too many players left by the time DLC 2 comes out....

Well that's your opinion, but building the game with no thought of how the DLC will fit in is like building a house and making the doorway just big enough for a person to get through, but not thinking about how you'll get furniture and appliances into the house.

  • I do know a lot about coding and you usually would take out all those portions from the core app and then add them into your modular expansion packs (aka dlc). This to me look alike they did last minute blocks in a full game that IF they did remove them from the core would break the core. This is probably due to the way the engine is running. In the glitch videos you see all the detail including pipes and wall braces etc i.e. the engine really creates a real world for the physics to work off of (a wall needs exterior material like brick but also needs studs and what not to build the frame). So taking out kings cross section at last minute might have literally collapsed the buildings in the rocket yard. Easiest to simply add a lock (invisible wall made to look like doors) and open it with a dlc. 9.5 mb is only big enough to contain scripts and metadata/configs.

Building a map to put in the game world is relatively quick in comparison to the coding side. So that can quite easily be included in the game, but how the story/events etc are done requires more work. If 9.5mb is only scripts/configs it is more than 100,000 lines of code/settings. If that is libraries/dlls then we're talking even more lines. Lets not forget that all this also needs testing before release. This is not stuff completed and then cut out of the game, this is incomplete stuff and that's easy to see.

  • I saw the second video last night and i agree that that is just a map waiting all the config "stuff" and will be a lot more then 9.5 maybe as an in game update. The kings cross one though is pretty much all done, and seems to even have objectives in them. Now they may be reserved as event areas (remember the garden where the queen envoy is used to be locked too) and we could all be jumping to conclusions when all bungie wanted to hold back a surprise for later.

  • I agree, there's probably not just DLC things but other things that bungie have in place - like VoG as well, it was there at the start but not unlocked at release. This is just a side note, but I also don't know what was included in the expansion packs, I bought the digital copy and downloaded and installed the expansion packs at the same time. While we don't have access to it, some of the content related to these packs is installed - I'm not saying this is what is being shown in these videos, but it's still content on the HDD whether the game picks any of that up yet or not is hard to say.

  • Everyone has a dumb ass, there's no brain matter in that area of the body. If you're referring to the animal, then how dumb can an ass be to know language, software development, how to use the internet and typing with hoofs? That's got to take a huge amount of skill.

  • Your just a fired up acne raging douche who asked how high after some other whinner said jump. Oh my poor 60 dollars!!! That's like what three weeks of emptying the dishwasher allowance! And yeah what a terrible idea to make doors that will go somewhere later and have a layout for future dlc, yet the whole time they said the game will grow and change over the course of ten years. Yes the content was a little light but it wasn't that light if you didn't play the game 15 hrs a day you'd still have something left to do. You sir are the idiot go get some sun and burn the pimples off your face
