Personally i like the ability not to trade. Even though my RNG luck is realy bad, i still like the idea that anything i get is something ive earned. I like trading in other games, but feel it would be detrimental for destiny. I wouldnt say no to in-game vendors with more options like asendant shards, ect, possible unlocked via side quests.

  • You do earn your stuff. Like I got a legendary glove engram got exotic Titan hands for i worked for that Titan hands ( im a warlock) so technically I worked for it I just worked for the wrong piece.

  • That's what ive been saying, but trading 50 spine metal for a legendary helmet doesn't feel like earning it.

  • Considering some vendors currently serve no purpose because they are quickly out leveled it would make sense to let them sell those grindy resources we need for glimmer or ascendant shards for motes of light/strange coins.

  • This. Vendors that sell items besides weapons and armor such as upgrade materials. One for one swap of relic iron for spirit bloom, maybe a two for one swap would be better. I have lots of spirit bloom because I like the environment on Venus. Two for one swap would be a little better than one for one probably. Also include weapon parts, plate steel, etc. I have upgrade materials for titans and hunters from breaking down their gear as I don5 have much interest in leaving another character. I already run those stories more than once anyway...because rep and marks.

  • I'd like a system where we could find weapon parts from random non engram enemy drops, like scopes and stablisers, ect which you can use to overright abilities on your guns and armour (one use per item). Then have a vendor who sells nothing, but you can give him an attachement which destroys it with no retern, but allows the vendor to produce a blueprint so you can make more. Making blueprints should be pricey, but not legendary material pricy. Enough that braking down an attachment feels like an investment, but not enough to encourage the hoarding of items for 'the perfect gun'. Exotic weapons cant be modified of course. This obviously would need locking in aspects of trading.

  • That could be a workable idea I think. Maybe give legendary weapons and armor "open" upgrade spaces so you could tailor it more to your playstyle. Auto rifle ammo boost, hand cannon, whatever. Kill with this weapon shorten the cool down of super, melee ability or grenade could be your "blueprint" and you use crafting material to create that upgrade and attach it to an open space on that weapon or armor.

  • Thats what i was getting at. Though replacing existing skills would make it easier to incorporate into the existing system. Perhaps in order to get the blueprints you have to break down weapons and armour, but can only choose 1 ability to keep.

I like the "open" ability slots on some gear idea so that you can't modify every piece of equipment you find. My feeling is Legendary items only. Some items have fixed stats and abilities, others have some set abilities and some open slots as well. Another question worth asking is if you can stack the same ability. For example: 2 open slots on a hand cannon in addition to the set damage increase. Can I put two "increase hand cannon reload speed" perks on it and have those stack? Or only one incense reload speed and one other? Agreed: to have The blueprint you must break down a piece of gear with that ability.

  • I was thinking like this: you can only overwrite scopes on scope slots, barrels on barrel slots, and abilities on ability slots, with damage / armour slots un able to alter. so rare stuff would only have 1 slot, legendries would have 2 (with multiple choices where they appear). This way we don't worry about gear getting op with all new upgrades, but it becomes more a way of customising armour to suit your playstyle. I would say not to have multiples of the same slot on an item. You could put max hand cannon ammo on 4 armour pieces, but not more than 1 piece.

  • It's all about suiting a person's playstyle IMO. I like pulse rifles and scout rifles. I also use hand grenades a lot and would like to buff those things. I would rather not have gear that supports other things but keep it only because of the light level for the item, or have a weapon that is overall pretty good, but support an ability or skill that I don't rely on. God I can't wait until I complete the bad juju bounty...
