There is a disconnect between you and those players. That disconnnect is that while you are playing a game, these players are just pulling the lever in their personal Skinner box*. You are there to play, they are there to finish.
Some will even get angry that you are impeding them from pulling that lever by even a minute, as evidenced by some of the "serious gamers" in this thread. These addicts will on occasion refer to mentally healthy players as "casuals" or even call into question their skill level based on nothing. Don't take offense to it, and welcome to the world of MMOs and Loot>Fun culture.

That isn't entirely fair. Yes, there are players who treat the game that way from the beginning, for them it's all about the ends. And everything they do in the interim justifies that end. But there are those of us who play for fun, that still race through those strikes. Not because we only care about the loot, or the leveling up, but because Destiny has a woefully small amount of content, and there comes a point when doing the same strike ninety times, and taking the time to clear it every single time, isn't fun no matter how you swing it. As I've said in other posts, varying levels of difficulty does not make doing the same strike over and over any less tedious. So yeah, when I get into the Strike, I hop on my Sparrow and blast my way through the unimportant enemies who, as others have pointed out, are not even a part of the actual strike, to get to the objective. Why? Because I'm going to have to do it again tomorrow. And the day after, and the day after that. Sometimes numerous times a day.

Because we've already given it the full run a thousand times. As I said, there comes a point when doing any strike at all, repeatedly, becomes a chore, which is what the bounties should be called. Daily chores. When you've already fully done the little there is to do, you find ways to expedite the process and avoid the tedium.

While I agree with OP (I like to kill through) I can see and understand your point. Our daily chores are quite repetitive and I can see how, after a while, running through would be the better option.

Hence the treasure cave. I wasn't a fan of it either until I realized that this is all this game is... It's a grind session. If bungie didn't want that they shouldn't have made it rng. And if people don't want it they should stop playing destiny. Because it doesn't look like its gunna change any time soon.
