Bungie needs to add a ranged titan super to Destiny, why?? because every class in Destiny has a ranged super besides for Titans. Warlocks can get midrange kills with the nova bomb, or get buffs with sun-singer, and Hunters can use Golden Gun. This lack of a projectile super becomes especially apparent during boss-fights.
The reason this came up was because I was playing the weekly heroic strike with three defender titans when the Summoning pits was the weekly heroic strike, so I decided to switch to Striker codex. However Fist of Havoc's attack just seemed to just roll off Phogoth instead of damaging him, and he would immediately counter by insta-killing me. So when I ask for a ranged super, I don't mean "long-range" or even "medium range", I just mean a projectable offensive super which can be used to damage a boss, while the player can still be far enough away from the boss not to get blasted by the bosses proximity attack (Some examples of proximity attacks would be; Phogoth and Archon priest both doing an insta-kill stomp, and Fallen Walkers releasing Arc grenades).
Also this 3rd subclass should be a solar damage subclass, because Titans only have Void and Arc subclasses for now. Also warlocks and hunters would be getting subclasses for their respective missing elemental type as well.

They're supposed to be much more up-close. Kinda bladedancer approach. That's why Titans have things like Shoulder Charge, Storm Fist, FoH. At least, striker is. Defender is kinda just, defense. You get shields from melee attack (not sure how, but you do). Your super is a giant shield. And there you have it, titan class.
-
and hunters don't have a panic power attack..
-
-
Uh... isn't the point of titan to be the heaviest melee class?
-
Since the titans job is to soak up bullets and kill adds I don't think you need a ranges attack. The DPS classes kill the boss.
-
Wait till they add the extra subclass Itl prob be what you want
-
Nah they don't they already have a coward bubble and a panic button.
-
They do. Its called headstrong.
-
No, other classes don't have a bubble shield. Or in that case, the hunter and warlock should get bubble shields.
-
Well Titans are not noob tubers, it makes them unique
-
Me and my friend were talking about this with the whole 3rd subclass slot. I read a theory on the forums here talking about each class has a set element for each of their subclasses. So what I'm hoping for is a solar-elemental ranged attack for the Titan.

Team Potato still exists? It's good that you guys are still going strong.
-
Titan DOES have ranged super. It's called shockwave. Use it. Love it. Pair it with a Helm of Inmost Light.
-
Have you tried shockwave? It's not a projectile persay, but it does direct the Arc energy in a direction in stead of a circle. I've found this helps enormously at times.
-
I agree 100% with you
-
It's plausible but I've always seen titans as a up close and personal type of class. Plus most supers don't do significant damage to bosses. Golden gun does maybe 1.2k damage for me on bosses and that's not a huge amount. Does it help? Sure. But I would much rather have a super that helps the team and not just damages the bosses. Like bladedancers super. In strikes, it's essentially useless because everything can two shot you with their melee. I actually use bladedancer as a support. When my teammates are down I pop it and go invisible to revive them. Even if titans had a ranged super, it wouldn't be that much more helpful. Quite frankly, I think defender titan would be more beneficial than a ranged titan.
-
Let's use our brains for a second. There will be three subclasses at some point. Here is the break down of the current supers. Warlock: One ranged, One support Hunter: One ranged, One melee Titan : One melee, One support Worked out what's going to happen in the future yet?
-
Fist of Havoc has a ranged upgrade.
-
I agree they should get a ranged super, but I'd never see titans use their super efficiently. Like defenders have weapons of light which boosts their weapons. For a super that's pretty good. Also for striker death from above would be godly if ppl knew how to use it right. That makes it slightly ranged.
-
Use the super to kill the adds so the hunter and warlock get their super charged faster for damage on boss. This is a team game it's like an offensive lineman complaining he can't throw the ball.
-
Titans need a Solar Ranged subclass Hunter Void Support Warlock Arc CQC
-
Sure as long as warlocks get a close super to match the Titans and Hunters

Edited by Insert_U23R_name: 10/4/2014 11:18:45 PMUmmm... No... Look in pve it's about team work. Each class has a role. A titans roll in pve is a mob killer or defender. You can wipe out a crap load of mobs that are harassing your team mates very effectively Instead of trying to compare the titans to other class try to look at how you can use their abilities effectively. If we say that then the other classes need a bigger aoe attack. If anything I wouldn't mind seeing a berserker sub class focusing on the fists more and taking more damage.
-
I'd certainly like a projectile super for Titans as well but have no real problem with Titans as they are. The one thing I will point out is that the defender shield need a pvp buff. Either make it invulnerable to the warlock nova bomb or let us shoot out of it. After the first 5 min of every pvp fight where everyone has their super it's unless. You either get nova bombed to death or waited out. All other supers are very useful in pvp to a larger extent than the defender subclass.
-
Bungie will more than likely add a third subclass for each class, with the damage type that they all don't have and I strongly believe that the solar subclass for the titan will be some sort of ranged super ability (maybe a golden rocket launcher... please bungie.)

I hate to be that douche but your argument is overly one sided. As a Titan lover and being that Titan a lot of my friends call for when it's time to do strikes or play PvP. I WRECK with my supers. Striker- I rarely don't come in top 3 during PvP. FoH is amazing with death from above. Launching me across the map or flying into rooms to clear to. PvE I clear everything as we travel through rooms and if we ever get swarmed my FoH clear our way. While my counterparts have a bit more trouble since they have a ranges super. Whereas I can just jump and Death from above the space we need cleared. You don't always need to super a boss sometimes clearing the Ads is all that's needed and then utilizing some good gunplay to kill the boss Defender- My favorite PvE subclass. I can revive people safely. I can blind enemies who enter my bubble I can give my team Shields or more weapon damage. I can provide a distraction for bosses by dropping it clear in the open allowing my team to attack from all sides while he attacks me like an idiot and my drops orbs for my team with my tweaked bubble of greatness. In PvP we can cap flags easily or I can drop a bubble on a group of enemies and they can't see while my team just comes in and plays clean up. I can scare enemies from a cap cause they won't enter my Dojo which gives my team plenty of time to show up and help clean up. -blam!- a ranges super leave my Titan alone don't need a buff don't want a nerf. We titans are good peaceful killers who just wanna be left alone. Go cry about hunters or something let is titans be the "noobs" that wreck you when you underestimate us. Just learn to use what you got and you'll be good man. Our powers have so much potential once you get the right exotics and figure out your play style.
