Bungie needs to add a ranged titan super to Destiny, why?? because every class in Destiny has a ranged super besides for Titans. Warlocks can get midrange kills with the nova bomb, or get buffs with sun-singer, and Hunters can use Golden Gun. This lack of a projectile super becomes especially apparent during boss-fights.
The reason this came up was because I was playing the weekly heroic strike with three defender titans when the Summoning pits was the weekly heroic strike, so I decided to switch to Striker codex. However Fist of Havoc's attack just seemed to just roll off Phogoth instead of damaging him, and he would immediately counter by insta-killing me. So when I ask for a ranged super, I don't mean "long-range" or even "medium range", I just mean a projectable offensive super which can be used to damage a boss, while the player can still be far enough away from the boss not to get blasted by the bosses proximity attack (Some examples of proximity attacks would be; Phogoth and Archon priest both doing an insta-kill stomp, and Fallen Walkers releasing Arc grenades).
Also this 3rd subclass should be a solar damage subclass, because Titans only have Void and Arc subclasses for now. Also warlocks and hunters would be getting subclasses for their respective missing elemental type as well.

Let me just say, Solar Minigun? 100 rounds, fast firing, and flaming. After summoning it, you get 30 seconds before it disappears. So you need to expel 100 rounds in a 30 second period. That's comparable to a Nova Bomb.

I respectfully disagree sir. I read the whole post btw. Titan lacks a projectile super. Sure. You're right. But Titan is also the only class that can create a temporary safe zone from projectiles. That's incredibly valuable. Concerning a third subclass I completely agree. I think every class should have a third subclass. But I think that should be saved for an expansion.

I have a ranged super as a titan. It's called Gjallahorn.

You were not using that super how it was designed to be used... I 100% Disagree.
-
Solar javelin/throwing spear thing! Big damage on hit but stays impaled in the enemy for burn dot! Be sweet as hell!
-
There will be... Warlock: arc close range Titan: solar ranged Hunter: void supportive These are what their third subclasses will be
-
Maybe a incendiary grenade launcher with 4 grenades.
-
A long range or mid range super for a Titan would defeat the purpose of the Titan being a close range attacker and defender.
-
Doesn't fit the lore so it shouldn't happen. Titans defend the wall, so they have a shield and short range super. Long range attacks don't fit nearly as well into their back story.
-
I understand the need for titans to have some form of ranged effectiveness, but you have to remember that each of the three classes is made for specific purposes. The titan is a close-quarters class, the Warlock is basically a grenadier, and the Hunter is extreme mobility. Put simply, this is how titans were meant to be. Now, I'm not saying that Titans shouldn't have one. Trust me, I would love that too. But, maybe whenever they release the third Focus for each class, the Titan's Solar Focus might have a ranged super to it. *shrug* anything is possible. And yes, they will be releasing a third focus for each one. That's pretty obvious, since they constantly talk about how they intend to balance out all three classes, so that no one class is left behind or further ahead. Adding the missing element to each class is one of those steps.

the titan striker does have a ranged super lmao its the shockwave upgrade u can aim and fire it in a direction and it rips apart everything in its path for a good distance and its op as -blam!- (I prefer my bubble shield tho) but to the argument that we need a ranged super? -blam!- no we dont bich get your bullet sponge ass back the -blam!- out there and eat those bullets for the warlocks and hunters cuz their pussies and cant take a bullet like we can
-
I play only titan. Defender mainly. I feel like I get a decent buff from weapons of light. I'm happy with the way my titan is.
-
As an avid and primary titan user i disagree with this idea, if i want a long range super i fly up and fist of havoc super man dive across the map... As for boss fights.. Supers should only ever be used for crowed control when mobs get a bit frisky..

Death from above. /thread

The point of a super it to take out multiple enemies in order to create orbs of light for your team. If you're not doing that then you're using it wrong.

Edited by JoeEvo123: 10/6/2014 11:37:13 AMSupers on Bosses are rubish... best to use supers on the vast enemies when they spawn to support the bosses. this will also generate more orbs of light allowing the team to get more supers.. and... Titans are designed for fist combat aka imediate range. i recon they need an armour buff however they dont need a ranged super as that will pull them out of the fight. a team should consist of a titan hunter and warlock. each with diffrent super types for a mixed assult. Try your fist of havocs on the enemies supporting the boss not the boss himself and you should find it easier as your whole team will have more supers and you can spend more time fighting the boss with less time fending off shanks dreds and vandles Edit: i should say i play as a warlock. by far the best class

I dunno. If it's about usefulness in boss-fights the Shield is arguably more useful than any other super. (Golden gun and Void bomb don't do the greatest amount of damage to bosses) As for the 3 Titans thing. There should be shortcomings when everyone plays the same class. The game should reward diversity or there would be no point. I would advise against getting close to a boss. Though, with my Helm of Saint-14 my group was able to melee down the Gatekeeper before Atheon when I shielded directly under him. So I don't know if the debuff applies to bosses or what. Just that it worked then.

Either Death From Above or Shockwave gives FoH range, and for buffed damage you can use Weapons of Light on WoD. 15% damage bonus? More than makes up for no ranged super.
-
Refer to the thread on 3rd subclass predictions... This one is pointless.
-
They should get a nuke too
-
I'm fine with that even though I didn't read the entire post. BUT Hunters need a defense super!
-
Ok i didnt read your entire post and heres why, "DEATH FROM ABOVE" hella range
-
Titans are meant to be close range not long range you crybaby
-
It is based on style o play if your style is ranges projectile then choose one o the other classes
-
They're supposed to be much more up-close. Kinda bladedancer approach. That's why Titans have things like Shoulder Charge, Storm Fist, FoH. At least, striker is. Defender is kinda just, defense. You get shields from melee attack (not sure how, but you do). Your super is a giant shield. And there you have it, titan class.
