"Use Void Damage to defeat Guardians in Crucible. Death will slow your progress"
Does anyone have any tips for doing this step in Thorn quest line? I just find it ridiculous how hard it is to do this when everyone is comfortable running around in their primaries while I'm forced to use crappy Void Fusion Rifle, or Heavy weapon which I never have ammo for. And I also want to mention that I'm not good at multiplayer so yeah...
How are people completing this quest? Or should I just abandon since I'm reading that Thorn is not very good anyways...

I have a maxed 300 thorn that I used to get my 331 maxed thorn, all my characters have the thorn bounty and I have WoC so I'm good lol But on a serious note use a primary you don't feel you need to use a lot, use a void special that you like and use a slow rate of fire heavy machine gun

5 RepliesDo not use Atheon AR. It sucks in PvP. Use a good primary like TLW or Suros for those "oh shit I'm gonna die" moments. Use a void fusion and a void heavy. Once I changed my load out I finished in 10 games. I also suck...a lot at PvP. You can do it.

I had the same problem. I sat on the bounty since October and then completed it in 2 sessions. This is how I finally got it : Played control only. Crouched to stay off of radar. Only worry about 2 control points and don't worry about catching them all that much. Be patient with your kills, if they got away wait for them to come back to you. Try to get at least two kills for every death. I sat down one day for about two hours trying to see just how many points I could get and finally I had just over 100 points. This showed me it was at least possible. Started reading the boards to see just how I could be a better player and came across all of the above advice. I never sucked at crucible but was never the greatest. It felt like when I was playing to have fun I was closer to the top of the board but when I tried to complete the bounty I was always at the bottom. Played the next day to finish the bounty and had it done in under an hour. Best feeling ever. Just used a slow charging fusion rifle and a machine gun, neither were really all that special. Depending on which class you are doing the bounty on, use a void class obviously. Try to obtain a void shotgun or word of Crota. I got it done by playing clash with a void shotgun in 2 hours. I tried using a void sniper, but I found that it was taking too long.

Voidwalker ftw. Void mg helps a lot. And if you like atheon epilogue or word of crota, those would help as well.

I just completed this on Saturday. I used a void shotgun and a void rocket launcher. Basically you have to play passively paying very close attention to your radar. Run away from any fights that are not within your shotgun/melee range or switch to your primary for those kills. To get the void kills I basically watched the mini map until someone was in range, always start with melee to take down shields than one blast from your shotgun will finish them off. Took me about 3 to 3 1/2 hours but it was well worth it. Thorn is absolutely amazing in pvp, I have the last word and I will take thorns DOT over last words rate of fire any day.

I got thorn, it isn't worth the trouble. It needs another buff, don't worry about it But to answer your question I had atheons epilogue (which is void) and void shotgun along with a void machine gun. So that way every kill goes towards the bounty. If all else fails, run around the map with a shotgun and pick your spots. Hope this helped [spoiler]Thorn isn't worth the trouble though[/spoiler]

I had problems, but that heavy ammo is your best bet. On control it spawns first at 9:00.

I used a void sniper, void rocket launcher, and nova bomb. Sat back and sniped on 6v6 maps, filled super, and used heavy when I could get it. Passive strategy, but it only took me a few hours over 2 sessions.

The second I got that bounty I got a void plug one with accelerated coils from an engram........finished the pvp part in an hour lol

Void shotgun or fusion rifle. Control. Cap a point with your team. Crouch to help keep you off radar. Wait for them to come around the corner to try and cap the point and blast them

I normally complete this with my hunter by using weapon of choice primary I find Atheons epilogue useless in crucible I normally use my hawkmoon or vision of confluence I know I won't get kills towards the bounty but it will reduce my deaths. For secondary I use my pradyths revenge sniper I'll just camp it out as I want to avoid death as much as possible. For heavy I use my corrective messure machine gun. All I can say is be patient and try not to run around too much specially if you don't play crucible too much to avoid loosing points. Also if you get a small map I would suggest you either leave the game or try to avoid up close combat well if your sniping at least.

In all seriousness though, run it on your warlock with voidwalker. Use the nova bomb perk that makes the explosion radius larger and the vortex effect last longer. Use axion bolt grenades. Play control. When enemies are capping a zone, use nova bomb on the zone, score a couple kills. Use atheons epilouge and Stick close to your teammates and steal their kills if you can. If you someones health down and they duck around a corner, use your axion bolt grenades to sniff them out. Hope this helps!

I used that "crappy fusion gun" and had it done in a few matches. Picked up a common void fusion from the weapon smith. Hell, this week I did my second thorn bounty with a common fusion rifle.

Do crota hard mode and try to get the word of crota, nice handcannon for pvp if you have that bounty
