Since when has this been the cool thing to do? About a week ago is when it started getting annoying... I have to deal with at least one guy running ahead and leaving every single enemy alive and well behind him. They dont save any time by doing this, they make it more challenging to clear that part of the map, and besides saving what ammo they have (assuming enemies dont drop any for them) i cant find a good reason for doing this.
Id love to see something to prevent people from doing this or at least add "runner" to the player report. Way too many "unhelpful" players without counting these toolbags that run through the map.

we got sh!t to do. I cant believe I would have to explain this but when you have a bounty that's says do five strikes without dying you just go get it done. its another game design flaw. people are going to pick the easiest one and run through it.
-
That bad juju 25 strike portion kinda molded me to skip unnecessary fights to speed things up. I clocked my fastest strike on the moon at 6:45. I don't mean to skip stuff but I'm in a rush.
-
I admit I do this a lot depending on the strike. Most strikes have enemies that are just thrown at you to slow you down, while others are required to pass through an objective or area. Mainly people do this because they care more about the end objective rewards rather than the loot along the way. For example, the weekly strikes for strange coins, only at the end do you receive the strange coins and that's what I'm more focused on getting. Not the uncommon/rare loot.
-
And then they wonder why they dont engram drops right haha
-
If you were running your 25 strikes for bad juju, you would want to run the summoning pits in 7 minutes as well... If you don't, find a fire team group with the same intent as you.
-
I see you play Xbox. That explains a lot. You see, speed running cuts out the enemies you aren't forced to kill, and after doing the same few missions 30 times, you just want to get it over with. If you aren't tactical enough to dodge, I'm guessing you're the camper/sniper type.
-
You must be new to This type of thing. Just like old school wow, in order to get to the dungeon you have to travel these dinstsndes through areas you have already explored. If I killed every level 6 dreg along the way I would never arrive with the respawning. Or the amount of time taken would not sufficiently match the quality of the reward. I've done every strike a million times. You need to step up your game or step down. If you can't keep up and insist on killing enemies that stand no chance against you, then go patrol a planet all day.

Edited by Copen: 10/4/2014 9:57:23 AMI can understand running on the "Septiks Prime" strike because I played it in the alpha and the beta and it's repetitive but now especially since they fixed the cryptarch AND increased the chances of legendary engrams in the Vanguard Tiger list it just doesn't make sense to run by all those enemies just to try and shorten the strike. Due to RNG being RNG every enemy you bypass is a potential engram missed out on its just unwise.
-
Leaving every enemy alive seems dumb. Some fights you can skip though. Like at the beginning of Earth strike, there's no point to fighting those Hive. Don't waste time with them.
-
When youve completed the same stupid stikes over a hundred times things start to get REALLY BORING so doing them as fast as possible makes it a little more interesting

Edited by Dash Woodson: 10/4/2014 9:32:38 AMIdk if you've heard of Patrol? Well it's this mode where you can take your time killing every mob you see at your own leisure. As far as strikes, people don't play strikes to kill every enemy, they play to kill the boss and reap the benefits in a timely manner. I don't mean this to be offensive but come on guy, there are better ways to complete your bounties than matchmaking with randoms and expecting them to wait on the princess to take his time. Strikes are played for the reward for beating them. Point blank. Find 2 friends or play daily/weekly by yourself. And stop with this illegitimate outcry for a bs cause
-
If your doing a level 22 or higher strike there is no point in wasting your time killing low level enemies on the way to the beginning of the strike. If that's what you want to do then go to patrol mode and farm low level enemies. Problem solved.
-
I can't speak for everyone, but I rush to the boss because I've done the strikes over and over and over. I don't dash through the middle though. I go along the edge of the rooms to draw them out of the middle for my matchmates. By the time those two make it to me I usually have the boss started and close to done. I save the boss for them. That's a free run for you. When you've done the thing time after time, you get bored of farming them. If I wanted to farm I'd do it on patrol. The only time running ahead is a failure is when you're doing Nightfall Strike or the Vault. Get over it. If you for like that then back out and find another group.
-
I speedran through The Nexus an odd 20 or so times when I had to grind 25 strikes for Bad Juju's Ex-Bounty. I do think it was rather rude, but most of the time I was matchmade with people who knew what I was doing, and so. But our motto is: "Know what you're doing. If you don't, pretend that you know what you're doing."
-
Dude... you got it backward... on a raid when grinding ignore the low level crap. I thin you will find two people thinking what is that -blam!-tard doing hanging back lol

I used to be annoyed when people did that and now I have started to do it. The resaon being I have done these strikes so many time and I am so over them but they are an easy way to get gear/rep along with those bounties. You can skip chunks of the strike and the enemies will not follow you. If we had chat and someone said to me hey would you slow down and wait for me. I would.
-
You never go full retard bro, and you just did.
-
You want to report a player for doing a mission in the most time efficient way possible..... Never go full retard
-
This has been the "cool thing to do" since human beings developed a brain to critically solve problems, like "how do I complete this strike as fast as possible without wasting time?" The solution is to run by the low level enemies that give you no benefit to kill. Hint: The Infinity bounty requires you to get 200 kills on Nightfall- staying back to kill the low level enemies DOES NOT COUNT. You must go to the spawning restricted area. And if you seriously think ignoring enemies that are usually 10-20 levels lower than you is unhelpful, you're the real tool. FYI I've been doing this speed run since the first week, and I may not have been the first but I am sure am proud to be leading the way.
-
Calm down buddy. If you stop and clear you can be stuck for a long time as most spawn points are infinite. If you want kills do patrol missions.
-
Edited by Dannystaples: 10/4/2014 2:31:28 PMBecause getting the strikes done is more important than playing them. When you are level 28 and you just need some marks, killing crappy level 6 enemies in the free roam areas is boring. I did once sit on the ledge above the Nexus for ten minutes waiting for my group to catch up. Much more fun than killing the same enemies for the billionth time.
-
Honestly its so annoying watching people stick around and waste time on secitions of a strike that have no point. Just rush to check points and go. This cuts 30min strikes into 10 min strikes. When you've got to clear 25 strikes for a bounty you don't want to spent 30min x 25 strikes.
-
When we're doing tiger I've never encountered anyone NOT running through the trash low level monsters until we get to the darkness sections. It's a waste of time to shoot at the low level stuff since our damage is scaled way down and theirs way up. Makes way more sense to run through to the part that matters, since it's going to take awhile, and chances are high you're going to be doing the same ****ing strike again in 20 minutes anyway. Seriously, had 7 moon missions out of 10 in a damned row this morning before I quit in disgust. Helped me with that 25 strike bounty but it's freaking insane.
-
I run. I've got better things to do with my time than waste it killing lvl 10 trash. I can cut the time required to complete a Strike in half, letting me complete more in my available play time. Need special kills? There's always a perfect spot on patrol or a mission for those. Need boss kills? Then let's focus on the boss. Did you know on the Nexus strike you can completely Run the beginning Servitor fight? That fight easily eats up 3/4 of the time prior to the boss fight. I can be standing in the middle of the Nexus arena waiting before you guys kill the third Servitor.
-
Sounds like you need to get some friends to play with. I see both sides. And if people take too long sometimes I'll hit the response zone then die so it jumps everyone up to the check point. It'd take a year to do an exotic bounty otherwise.
