Asking for free stuff isn't always bad; nor is it always good. Bungie's best bet is to do what WoW and SWtOR do... Release expansions that cost money, but still add free content to the games. These include zones, instances and raids. By giving a mix of free and paid for content, it keeps the player base content and more willing to purchase future expansions. As it stands, Destiny is in dire need of new areas, even pre-expansion. The game world feels too small, overall. I would suggest a free zone or two before the expansion, plus whatever is going to be in the expansion.
