Nostalgia is a funny thing. The Halo games were great, and Bungie did a lot of great things with their community. But that was a long time ago.
It's bizarre to me just how many people around here are putting SO MUCH faith into Bungie the developer, without truly understanding the industry. Now I'm not suggesting that a culture of distrust and negativity should surround every single gaming developer out there.
But the more and more I read people's posts regarding Bungie, the more and more I think " blind faith".
They are in bed with Activision, which changes the dynamic largely. But even if you ingore that, this is 2014. Making games THAT MAKE MONEY are the primary goals of developers now. Not necessarily making great games. Make a game that is great, but doesn't make money, and you fail to get published.
People need to move on from the idea that this is the same Bungie that people fell in love with years ago.

Its not so much i have faith in bungie, in fact i never cared for the halo series. Its just i have played many mmos and understand they start slow, have a small start. And take on a time invested progression. I also understood what i was purchasing.

It's not called faith, it's called loyalty. It seems like you lack it. You see, loyalty means trusting someone even when what they are doing may not appear the best, because you trust they have a plan. So yes, I do have faith in Bungie, but that's part of being loyal. Also, there is no such thing as blind faith, because faith is inherently not knowing what is going to happen, but trusting it will be good.

They're a very talented group of people, and we're on their forum. We'd all like to and still do believe that they've still got it. However unlikely that may be considering they've tripled in size since splitting from MS and dropped a few key(and I mean key) employees. It's kind of like seeing your father as some kind of superhero when you're a little kid.

Forget them, I'm in love with Certain Affinity, a developer who knows how to make a map without thirty seven uneven floors that stub your feet and make for garbage gun fights. Luckily I'll be able to play a game with actual symmetrical and well formed maps in November.

Because bungie has so much faith in the people. This is a two way street.

I do agree with you, though, that in this day and age it's all about adopting the "formula for success", sometimes at the expense of integrity. Despite all the hate towards CoD, we can't ignore the fact that its an extremely successful franchise in terms of sales. So many developers have adopted CoD philosophy and integrated CoD elements into their own games. Just look at Halo 4 and Gears of War judgment...two great franchises who followed the CoD path in order to be more appealing to the contemporary gaming generation. There's nothing wrong with people having faith in a company though. It's their choice.

Why does it bother you? Some people are hopeful, some are cynical, some are optimistic while others are pessimistic. It's their choice. Are you hoping to change people's attitudes with this thread? If so, best of luck to you because it's a lost cause.

Nostalgia? I have faith because before Destiny they had a 2 decade track record as the greatest dev period.

There is a sliver of hope for Bungie to make things right. But I won't hold my breath though. I will say this...if Bungie is in it for the money, then they need to fix all the issues with this game ASAP, otherwise they won't make the money for the sequel.
