[b][u]Should RNG Be Removed From Destiny?[/u][/b]
RNG means random number generator - which in simple words means the game randomly gives you a piece of loot
This favors casuals and bad kids, as you can suck or contribute very little and walk away with legendaries or exotics
This hurts veterans, skilled players, and those who are dedicated - as they will experience the frustration and disappointment of bad loot for being the top players
IMO - RNG is lazy programming and should be replaced with a skill based system where everyone must earn their loot, and upon doing so, it is a 100% drop, some even with choices of reward. Very similar to exotic bounties.
Engrams are broken and thus had to be patched, but are still garbage. (Spend 23 motes on exotic engram for Hunter, get a helmet for a Warlock I dont have and never will). Theres no need for engrams and were not part of the Original Version of Destiny back in 2012-13. They were added to cater to casuals and get little kids addicted to gambling.
For example - I beat Nightfall with my Hunter and with my Titan. I received 2 legendary engrams that decoded into 1 warlock bond and Level 12 uncommon machine gun. I should have received legendary or exotic items for the classes I completed with, as the two friends with me received exotics (Achlyophage Symbiote and Icebreaker, Hardlight and Insurmountable Skullfort).
The rewards should be choosable - and have a tier system - higher difficulty = better rewards
This could be worked into the lackluster story missions to give them incentive
This could be introduced into Crucible as well
Optional difficulty bounties in Crucible can be added for better loot
Examples
- 1 legendary item for your class and 1 legendary weapon for beating nightfall at 28
- 2 legendary items for your class and 2 legendary weapons OR 1 exotic (either class item or weapon) for beating nightfall at 30
- Weekly heroic should have choice between coins, shards, energy, legendaries
- Win 30 games of Crucible - Choose a legendary
- Win 100 games - Choose an Exotic
- Finish top 3 players in team games 10 times - Choose a Legendary
- Finish top 3 players in team games 50 times - Choose an exotic
- Lose 10 games - Choose an Uncommon
- Finish lowest 3 players in team game 10 times - Choose an Uncommon
- Win a crucible match using only a scout rifle 30 times bounty - legendary scout rifle
- Win a crucible match using only a scout rifle 100 times bounty - exotic scout rifle
- Win a crucible match using only melees 10 times bounty - legendary gloves
- Get 100 sparrow splatters - Rare Crucible sparrow
etc and etc these are just a few suggestions
Vault of Glass should have a reward screen at the end where you pick your own rewards out of the list
Examples
- Normal Mode completion - Choose 2 Armor, 1 weapon, and choose shader or ship or shards
- Hard Mode completion - Choose 3 Armor, 2 weapons, and choose shader or ship or sparrow or shards

Sick of the RNG BS. We just 3 manned Vault of Glass on Hard start to finish. I only got one thing from the whole thing including chests and it was a year 1 legendary arms with 150 light. They each got 5 year 2 legendary and one got an exotic...lowest thing was 280 LL.

I definitely think Destiny's RNG is broken and needs serious fixing but I'm not in favour of a 100% drop rate either. I want a loot system that has sense of logic to it. The higher the difficulty and the stronger the enemy, the better the quality if the loot drops, that's the way it's supposed to work. I want the quality of loot drops to reflect my current level. I shouldn't be getting loot for a Lv.16 or a Lv.18 when I'm at Lv. 28.

I agree. The RNG aspect is very frustrating. With 100 hours of gameplay, I only got one legendary weapon drop and no legendary armor, until Queen's Wrath. I prefer having to actually earn gear like the way you had to save up credits to buy gear in Halo Reach.

They probably use RNG so that if someone is a hardcore player at doing strikes and raids and suck at pvp they still have a chance to get something. Vice versa if someone loves pvp but sucks at staying alive doing strikes they still get a chance. It allows players to play both parts of the game so they have a chance at loot rather than people not doing crucible because they suck and don't want to do it because the know they won't get anything

Yea, let's put the same reward for everyone who finishes every activity in game. In pvp let's not let people die who don't want to. You put a red Jersey on them and they can kill those who choose or die.

i would vote but none fit my feelings. IMO RNG is needed, but they could up the odds a bit. I almsot got my full ledgendary on my hunter, warlock is alrleady set in that department. SADLY RNG is not my friend lol. But when i do get that item i feel accomplished.

I think there should definitely be some sort of loot table system where certain items, particularly exotics, drop from certain people. But random drops are good too. And purchasable legendaries shouldn't be as good as earned legendaries. Basically get someone from Activision Blizzard in and copy WoW's loot system, preferable from around TBC era.

Although RNG is a pain, I still like it because when I do get something good, I can say that it is worth it. A friend of mine got a monte carlo at skirmish after playing a long time and needless to say, he was ecstatic.

Being able to choose what kind of loot you get is stupid.. As everyone will have the same crap. Being lucky in a raid and getting a decent loot drop is ok. But in strikes it's bullshit. As I did a strike and a guy jumps in at the last second. Kills boss with a rocket so he has 1 kill and about 48 seconds of play and he gets the exotic weapon.. Lvl24 strike that was.

No, the RNG can stay, but it needs to be tweaked to drop loot that matches (more or less) the level of the mob that drops it. That would fix most of these problems, IMHO.
