Hmm... I find it funny how many of these guys are saying "Who cares? It doesn't matter! Stop being an attention whore!" until they are on a mic with a girl, then it's nothing but begging for attention from the girl, or at the very least sexually harassing them.
You people say it makes no difference, except it really does... just remember that when you end up on a mic with a girl.

I've played in Fireteams with quite a few females, and I've never heard anyone treat them any different than one of the guys, other than being mildly surprised in the beginning that there was a female among us. So take your bullshit elsewhere, not everyone acts like a child or a rapist the second they hear a female on the other end of a mic.

I openly admit there is a small percentage of males out there that do and they sour the image of all gamers. It goes back to 'the minority ruins it for the majority'. If females would just play the game instead of purposely broadcasting the fact that they are female there would be far less issues. People generally don't take notice of things until someone points it out. Like for instance, this entire thread.
