It would be great if there was a quick way to swap weapons on the fly rather than going back to the character screen. It's a pain when you're in the middle of a gun battle and an enemy shows up with a solar shield and the only weapons I have equipped have void or arc damage or vice versa. One way it could be done is if when you click on the touchpad on PS4 (or equivalent on other systems) if the D Pad could then be enabled to switch primary, secondary or heavy weapons rather than the default dancing, pointing, waving or sitting. It would also give ghost a useful function (other than his slow hacking skills, summoning the sparrow or taking you back to orbit).

This one is long... My bad. Ok I have mixed feelings on this one. I absolutely love the idea and thought of it myself on countless occasions. One post did it brilliantly by basically making multiple dpads all wrapped up into one. I can't remember exactly what it was but I have a better alternative. But towards the bottom I explain why I don't like it. I think it would be really cool if you got a sub menu or quick select screen. And for it you hold down one key to show menu and press another to select whatever. Ex) RB + left on dpad to open the other menus. And when you do boom you get a nice little visual what you have selected and buttons for each. Think dark siders 2 quick select kinda. link Darksiders 2 quick select menu was great. It not only gave you the menu but even if you forgot it as long as you held down the one key it kept the menu there for you to pick your weapon/item. Two ways I just thought of: D-pad direction = type of menu, use A,B,Y,X for sub menu selection. Hold Dpad direction for menu type, press a button for selection. Some examples Hold up - arsenal menu - A - subclass switch (maybe) - B - heavy weapon cycle or quick switch - X - secondary weapon cycle or quick switch - Y - primary weapon cycle or quick switch Hold left - inventory menu (personal options) - A - glimmer buffers like wax doll - B - heavy ammo synthesizer - X - secondary ammo synthesizer - Y - primary ammo synthesizer Hold right - gestures - point, sit, wave, dance Although it would be neat to implement this system but let the USER pick what they want where and the type of menu even. blank slate vs constraints. Hell even doing an arc, void, solar menu and each option be primary, secondary, heavy switches would be neat. Other option: only because I can't think of a down option for the other... I like this next one a lot!! Hold down = menu visual selection and press Y - arsenal menu X - inventory menu B - gesture menu Upon releasing down on the Dpad the Dpad up, right and left take on different rolls. This would only give three options for each menu leaving down as the menu selector. Also the sub menu would be basically two of the darksider 2 ones. One for the button menu options and two for what each direction is currently set to based on the current menu chosen. Ex I'm in a nightfall strike or raid. Ammo synthesizers are important. I map them to up, left and right of my inventory menu. During game play I just hold down and press X. Now if I ever need ammo I just tap up, left, or right for desired. Likewise if I need to switch guns because ammo is all good. Hold down and press Y. now dpad is mapped for quick gun swaps. That all being said. There's some other mechanics that should be alters with either. Personally I don't think subclass should be one cuz that would just be... kinda crazy. It's a big change. Going through actual menu is fair. Or if it does get on a quick select menu it should only be an option if both classes are fully upgraded. But when swapping weapons an ammo penalty needs to be in place. Generally going into a strike or anything I know the type of enemies that are there. and I choose my weapons accordingly. I think an ammo penalty is already in place but just incase not... Also the quick swaps should not be allowed in PVP. Wait till you die or cover. Switching between a sniper, shot gun, or fusion on the fly would be ridiculous. Think about it... Reasons I don't like it for swapping guns. If like you can have all the weapon types basically "equipped" at the same time. If it's that easy to switch I mean. could lead to areas becoming really easy instead of giving the "oh shit I need to switch weapons I need to take cover for a second" feeling. I hear everyone about the menu loading times though. Sometimes it can lag a bit and drive you crazy. But the ammo penalty mentioned above is fair I believe. there were some other reasons but I can think after all this haha. Anyways that's all I got. Thanks for reading!
