Weapon modification/customization

Should players be allowed to modify or rather customize their weapons, (i.e. sights, magazine capacity, perks, etc.)? 1. This is Destiny. Its an MMO-RPG-FPS. Is it unreasonable to believe that out of all the FPS players out there that some may have their own style of gunplay that suits them perfectly? An individual brand of shoot 'em up that makes them a Lord of War? With the loot system and engrams always being so utterly random players should have a system in place to tailor their weapons to their own needs instead of what the game gives them. 2. A vendor is already in place to do what I'm asking. Banshee is the Tower's master gunsmith and according to lore one of the best ever. So the logistics of this are already in place. 3. At no point should the weapon's set damage change. ( no 2500 damage sniper rounds coming from an auto rifle) 4. Only weapons of the rare tier and up should be allowed to be modified. And to be allowed to modify a weapon the weapon's development tree should be at least fully unlocked by XP earned to show commitment to the weapon. 5. Costs to modify/ customize weapons should be reasonable but extensive enough that a player is absolutely sure they want or need the weapon just so. 6. 300 glimmer per sight. 1000 glimmer and 3 weapon parts per main perk (the ones that can't be toggled); and 800 glimmer and 1 weapon part per secondary perk( the column that can be toggled). 7. Costs should increase each tier up. 1x for Blue, 2x for Purple, and 3x for Yellow. With the legendary and exotic weapons the collectible material (spinmetal, etc.) would also be brought in to mirror the cost in weapon parts. And those perks exclusive to Exotic weapons would not be allowed to be removed or placed on other weapons. 8. While playing the beta I distinctly recall while looking at the weapons offered by the crucible/vanguard quartermasters that they once offered the ability to increase or decrease the weapon's magazine size at the cost or benefit of weapon stability/ reload time. Should this modification be allowed it would cost 1000 glimmer and a weapon part. I don't believe that what I'm asking is unreasonable or absurd and by no means am I looking to get in a pissing contest over fairness and how the game should be played. Just remember that if you disagree because it will give someone an unfair advantage, that with this proposition you too would be able to acquire that advantage. Remember I'm always open to constructive criticism.

 • I agree with this. I forget how many weapon types you get in halo, but it had to be more than 9. Also poor Banshee, he's gotta be the loneliest man on the tower. My thought is that at some point we'll be able to win the alien weapons. This is a pretty common thing in all games. We'll probably just have to wait for dlc. One thing I'll add, Bungie made a big thing out of not providing a trading economy because they wanted us to earn our gear. They specifically wanted us to be able to look at a price of equipment and remember the challenge to get it. Well how can I do that if everybody has basically the same gear at ever level, getting gear it's super random, and its not specific to the challenge at hand. Destiny is a super fun dungeon crawler. But they leave out the best part of dungeon crawling. Getting the treasure protected by the big boss.
