Why is it okay for advertisers to knowingly mislead customers?
Why is our society okay with this? At a certain point, should it not be considered unethical for a company to mislead their customers through marketing?
A lot of people here have been talking about how customers have to live with what they bought and how businesses have a right to do whatever they please as long as it strengthens their bottom line. Some people even say it's the customer's fault for failing to properly research the product they bought.
Why is this considered okay? Why do we give priority to the rights of corporations over those of individuals? Is it really okay for a company to misrepresent their product to such an extent that customers have to do outside research to find out the truth?
