The story is a STORY. Told to us over the course of days/weeks/months. It is not spoon fed to us like most of the garbage out there today. The story now ALLUDES to something. It tells us that something bigger is going on. We are not finished, not even close. We are to discover, to incorporate ourselves, our real selves into this world. While we aren't playing we are to read and find out more of the lore, the world our virtual selves live in and occupy. That is true storytelling at it's greatest. To live in the world even beyond the book, the game, or the movie. The grimoire cards are meant to do just that. The people who complain about them are the same people who do not care why they are told to shoot things and just go ahead and shoot things. And that is fine, but the others who want to know more about the world they invest in, are the people who take to the internet or the app and look into who the stranger really is or the story behind their exotic weapon.
This is not "CALL OF WAR 97 SHOOT THOSE BROWN PEOPLE CAUSE THEY DID SOME STUFF AT SOME POINT OR WHATEVER". This is meant to be an epic. An adventure story that lasts well beyond the lifespan of most games. Considering that Bungie DID create Halo and Marathon, they have the story telling ability to really capture the minds of people and just because their approach is different this time around, does not mean it is damming. I'm gonna go ahead and TRUST the company that spawned a whole series of novels and comics. That created so many great games that their replacement had to crawl for months to get out of their shadow and still butchered the series. (looking at you 343 Studios) Destiny will have a continuing story. What you saw in what is now the third week of its release, and remember that it is just the third week, is what you would call maybe the first two or three chapters and what was shown at e3 and all their other hints and "reveals" were a prologue. They've set in and got comfortable for the long run of this game, this story, and I for one intend to do the same. I always hated when I got a new game, beat it in a few hours and then simply sold it back.
Destiny has not failed a single one of my expectations (except maybe my hope for stupidly powered exotics but thats another point all together) No more of this instant gratification B.S. We all have to enjoy something for once. No one owes us anything. Sorry but thats how life is. Because seriously, this and many other posts on here are the exact reason we can't have nice things. Too many people expecting they are the only people that matter. That "How dare they not give me EXACTLY what I want!" attitude is exactly why there is so much bitching and complaining. "THE LOOT CAVE IS GONE THATS SO STUPID I LIKED IT": So? The vendors gave you guaranteed legendaries anyway, and seriously how many rare and legendary did you actually get? "THE STORY MADE NO SENSE WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!": Well there is still more to be told and to discover, haven't you ever read a book instead of skimmed the back cover or wikipedia'd it? "OH EM GEE BUNGIE HATES US CAUSE THEY DIDNT PERSONALLY RESPOND TO MY RANT WHERE I CANT SPELL OUT THE WORD YOU AND HAVE TO USE "U" BECAUSE MY TIME IS TOO IMPORTANT TO USE WHAT I LEARNED IN THIRD GRADE": Yeah... multi million dollar companies tend to address issues in bulk... Is the rock you live under comfortable or....
You get my point. Instead of sulking about not being as far along in the game as you had hoped, just relax, take a breath and look at what you do have. A great game with great mechanics, an underlying lore powering everything in the game (including the crucible which I though to be impressive), a company that is very proud of its fan base and game and one with a great track record, a challenging game, which to be honest is rare these days outside of dark souls or demon souls, and a brand new genre, or at least hopefully a new one. So. Guys and Gals, what I'm trying to say is..
CHILL.
